TOKYO, JAPAN (October 24, 2014) - Four Islands Pro Wrestling released today the names of the initial twenty members of the Four Islands Pro Wrestling roster. The company was quick to stress that negotiations were continuing with no less than seven other athletes to come to the company, but with the company's first show under a month away, FIPW officials wanted to give fans an idea of who would be competing on that debut show.
Alongside the four named major players in the company is a fifth well-known name, "Nihonjin Iron" Jun Nakagawa. Well known for his use of gaijin power tactics in the junior heavyweight division, Nakagawa brings eight years of experience to the ring.
Notably, aside from those five men, none of the initial roster announcees have more than five years of experience, leading many to speculate that the company will focus on youth.
As the first would-be major Japanese company to allow regular intergender combat, it is perhaps no surprise that three female competitors have been signed. Masami Inoue, well-known to Kobe wrestling fans as the Devil's Daughter, will be making her first-ever full-time appearance in a non-deathmatch company with Four Islands. Contrasting with her are the technical/speed, youth/experience team of Rika Morooka & Chiaki Sakai.
Micro-indy fans will also applaud the inclusion of the "Street Fighter" Kenichiro Honda, who has made his name in tiny companies for the past two years by competing as an E. Honda alike. No word if he plans on continuing to do so on the larger stage.
More news regarding the Four Islands roster will be released as soon as it is received.
