Character Info
Name: Ryuji Kamigawa
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 299 lbs.
Hometown: Osaka, Japan
Alignment: +2. Though booed and reviled by many, the co-founder of Gods & Monsters is genuine in his desire to have changed himself, with or without the Salaryman’s mask, and he will work as long as hard as needed to prove his earnestness to all who question it.
Entrance Music: "Mama Said Knock You Out” by Five Finger Death Punch feat. Tech N9ne
Entrance Description:
The angry, aggressive opening beats of Five Finger Death Punch's cover of Will Smith's classic “Mama Said Knock You Out” hit the speakers, and the curtain opens to reveal Ryuji Kamigawa, power-walking his way down to ringside amidst what can charitably be called a very mixed reaction.
Don't call it a comeback
I been here for years
Rockin my peers and puttin suckas in fear
Makin the tears rain down like a MON-soon
Listen to the bass go BOOM
Dressed for combat, the tattooed former co-founder of Gods & Monsters looks straight ahead at the ring, sliding in underneath the bottom rope, all-business.
Explosion, overpowerin'
Over the competition, we're towerin'
Wreckin shop, when I drop these lyrics that'll make you call them cops
Don't you dare stare, you betta move
Don't ever compare
Us to the rest that'll all get sliced and diced
Competition's payin our price
As the famous chorus hits, Kamigawa settles into his corner while Mr. Zinkus announces him to the world.
I'm gonna knock you out
Mama said knock you out
I'm gonna knock you out
Mama said knock you out
David Zinkus: Coming to us from Osaka, Japan, he stands six feet, five inches tall, and weighs in at two-hundred and ninety nine pounds! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Unmasked Salaryman... RYUUUJIII KAMIIGAAWAA!!
Raising an arm in the air, Ryuji endures the boos he hears, taking heart in the cheers he does receive.
I'm gonna knock you out
Mama said knock you out
I'm gonna knock you out
Mama said knock you out
As the song fades out, Kamigawa ceases his pre-match workout, and simply walks to center-ring, ready to do what he does best.
Physical Appearance: Ryuji Kamigawa has short cropped black hair. He's built thick, but lacks the definition of most bodybuilder sorts. His is the sort of body one gets from doing strenuous work rather than lifting weights in the gym. He looks reasonably plain other than his size other than the tattoos that cover his entire torso and arms, most notably dueling Oriental-style dragons in gold and silver up his arms, and “G&M” in Gothic font on his midsection.
(New PB is Jumbo Tsuruta, a better example of the general build I was going for with Kamigawa all along.)
Ring Attire: Two different sets, one for competing on his own, one for when (and if!) he teams with Black Jones as Hot Sauce & Ramen.
1. (Solo Attire) Black MMA-style (baggy) shorts. Black wrestling boots. Black MMA-style gloves. He wrestles this way to keep his tattoos, and particularly the “G&M” on his stomach, visible to the world, and just as importantly, to himself, so that he never forgets his past (both yakuza and G&M related)
2. (Hot Sauce & Ramen) - Orange suit with a white dress shirt and a bright orange bow-tie. Orange dress loafers. Wears a gold chain with the blinged out word “RAMEN” attached. He carries the Pimp Cup O’ Noodles to the ring with him, and generally looks utterly mortified but also having a good time in the process.
Gimmick: Roughhouse brawler atoning for a checkered past. Having returned to EXODUS under the guise of the Masked Salaryman to try and clean up the mess he helped start in the form of Gods & Monsters, Kamigawa now finds himself standing in the line of fire from all sides, willing to face the vengeance of those who would seek it for his past misdeeds.
(Also the Ramen of Hot Sauce & Ramen, which is MUCH funnier now because you can see how he actually reacts to everything.)
Personality:
List up to three strengths of your character; they can be in-ring related, personality related, whatever you think helps define your character:
1. Balls to the wall offense. Kamigawa comes ROARING out of the gate and tries to put all the pressure on his opposition with his brand of fast-paced, high impact action. It's not something people expect from a man of his size, and it can and does catch people off guard.
2. Size & Strength. Only GRENDEL is truly bigger, and only a handful of athletes on the EXODUS or (R)W rosters can match Kamigawa’s raw power. Going head to head with Kamigawa is best left for those few.
3. Fearlessness. Kamigawa will take on any fight, no matter the odds, if the price or his mindset is right. Intimidating this Japanese super-heavyweight is nigh-impossible. He'll pay the physical price, but so too will his opposition. This is especially important now, as he walks many nights to the ring to face opposition who will wish vengeance for his past misedeeds.
List up to three weaknesses of your character:
1. Endurance. He's a big dude, and his bum-rush strategy isn't for show. If you can take him past fifteen minutes, he can and will tire, and an experienced opponent can then pick him apart.
2. Lack of technical know-how. Kamigawa is a trained pro wrestler, but lacks any amateur background whatsoever. A lot of the building blocks are lost on him, and a good technician can take him to the mat and teach him some painful lessons.
3. Speedsters. Fast, quick, agile opponents are Kamigawa’s complete Kryptonite. Heather Halliwell and Fiona Collins (nee Rourke) delivered him two back to back losses that arguably started him down the path to Gods & Monsters. Competitors of their ilk can frustrate Ryuji and make for very, VERY difficult matches for the big Japanese wrestler.
Biography:
Unmasked at the behest of EXODUS brass from his previous identity as the Masked Salaryman, Ryuji Kamigawa finds himself in an unenviable position of trying to atone for past misdeeds on a roster full of those who remember his misdeeds as the co-founder of Gods & Monsters.
The first step? Trying to mend his relationship with tag team partner Black Jones.
The second step? Fend off all those who wish that he’d never come back.
The third step? Maybe, just maybe, convince a skeptical world that he’s actually, finally changed enough that he’s worthy to become the Masked Salaryman once again.
Wrestling Style: Agile powerhouse brawler. Kamigawa tries to end matches in fifteen minutes or less by blitzing his opponent and throwing his weight around. He doesn’t work a body part so much as batter his opposition as best he can to make them susceptible to the Kabukicho Lullaby or Ten Kara. He’s aggressive and likes to fight, but notably, he won’t cheat, perhaps another sign of his reforming nature.
Finishers
1. Kabukicho Lullaby - Samoan Spike. Arguably Kamigawa’s most feared move during his first tenure in EXODUS, it returns as the centerpiece of his offense.
2. Ten Kara ("From Heaven") - Top rope big guy moonsault. No longer a super-finisher, but not used as often as the Lullaby is. He is more willing to go for it if the Kabukicho Lullaby ends.
3. ?? - To be unveiled when the time is right...
Signature Moves
1. Aya-chan Bomber - Stiff Axe Bomber/forearm clothesline to the jaw. Named for his beloved Ayako, whose death started Kamigawa’s downward spiral into despair.
2. Kamigawa’s Jitte - Full-nelson backbreaker. Rarely executed in multiples.
3. Champagne Call - Running corner-to-corner avalanche, sometimes with theatrics. Formerly the Salaryman’s Sandwich. Renamed to its original name as a tribute to his destroyed hostess club and everyone he worked with.
Regular Moves
1. Hard right handed punches of all sorts.
2. Mongolian Chop
3. Big Boot, often as a counter to a charging opponent.
4. Standing splash
5. Jumping legdrop
6. Repeated headbutts to the chest of an opponent with arms draped over the ropes
7. BIG standing headbutt
8. Vertical suplex lift into falling chest/ribbreaker
9. Press slam lift into Samoan drop
10. Standing double-underhook clutch, accentuated with knees to the torso
11. Argentine Backbreaker Rack (used as a weardown move, never actually gets the submission)
12. Stalling Gutwrench Suplex
13. Vader-style pump splash
14. Side Belly to Belly Suplex
15. Second rope diving headbutt
16. Chokeslam
17. Thunderfire Powerbomb
18. Snake Eyes in the corner
19. Bearhug
20. Top rope belly-to-belly suplex (big matches only)
21. Boot choke in the corner
22. Delayed vertical suplex
23. Front powerslam
24. Death Valley Bomb
25. Backpack Stunner
