If you are seeking feedback or you just liked something someone did.
Give them props here.

I can't really do much for things because I judge (and I don't want to seem partial), but a few people have really delivered this week and cut great promos. I'm very impressed.

I gotta say.
What is with the colors? With some of you guys, it's like you spend more time fine-tuning your HTML than proofreading your stuff. Every RP is a veritable rainbow of colors and fonts and shit, and it never really does anything for me besides look garish.
Don't get me wrong, I've used colors in my RPs for contrast in the past if I was doing especially long prose, but good god damn.

Colors kill my eyes, honestly. That's why I don't use any.

Orange Octopus would totally love if a female Pocahontas character showed up.

And I don't think colors are that important. They hurt my octo-pupils.

It isn't hard for me to code out who's color is what while I'm going. Largely because I'm amazing and require little to no proof reading.

I don't know. I've always used colors. I guess I feel they give promos personality or something.

And just when I say this, egg blows up in my face. I find it utterly impossible to use color in this new format. It's way too stressful. :L

Kliff, Johnny, colors will be easy if you know your HTML hex codes. Sadly, I don't know that many, but...hey. At least there's that.

with my vision, I'm pretty alert on eye fatigue. uncorrected I have 20/200 in one eye and 20/500 in the other, the lenses of my eyes are different shapes, I don't even walk around the house without contacts.
now one of my favorite books is House of Leaves, I can appreciate ergodic literature and typography as art and stuff. however, when I was judging for other feds I got in the habit of copy-pasting the eye-bleeding Technicolor Dream Promos some would put out into word processors-- you know the type I'm talking about, the ones where their primary color selections would clash with the board background. after a while, I started to notice two things.
one, a lot of the time color coding is basically a crutch to tell us who's speaking.
two, color-coded dialogue encourages skimming. it makes it too easy for the eye to skip to just the spoken.
both those made me cut down the frequency I used color coding. if I'm working with somebody who includes it in their parts I'll do it in return, sometimes I'll do it just because. more often than not, though-- I feel I get more as a writer out of using that editing time to clarify who's speaking with the phrasing and context. I also really don't want people to skim my stuff for just the dialogue, I feel with my style that loses a lot.
