Yes, you might notice that I'm hosting Draft 5, and not 6 as I've been saying for a bit now. That's because due to Cory, and the rest of us honestly, not seeing Draft 4 going by as fast as it did, he's not quite prepared yet to begin his. I, however, have been prepared for this for sometime. As you'll soon see.
While some things will be different, some things remain the same. This is a 15 round draft done in snake format with a minimum of 10 players, with wrestlers drafted being considered 'at their prime', at the end of it you'll put together a card with all of your wrestlers and people will vote to see who came up with the best card under the circumstances.
But the fun comes in with the things we'll be doing differently, so let's get started on those!
1. The 8 hour window for picks remains the same, along with my rule of "you don't pick and it comes back around to you you're skipped over." I mention this here so you know I had originally intended to do it differently, and you'll be less damaged than how I originally wanted to do it. So let no one say I'm not a fair guy.
2. I don't give a shit about trades, do them if you want, they've rarely happened in the last drafts so I don't have a strong opinion either way.
3. The Coin Flip returns. While some of it will be familiar to returning players, I'll still be keeping the terms secret until showtime, which will still be round 5.
4. I'm a big fan of the tag team rule from last game, but as I have two tag rounds planned myself (ooh, spoilers), I'm not sure if having it along with the rest of my plans is too much or not. Very interested in opinions on it, we'll see what's decided come start time.
5. As the title of this draft should indicate, the big difference with this draft will be a series of unfortunate events. Namely, CHALLENGE ROUNDS! What is a challenge round, you ask? Why, it's a round that's a challenge, ya goof, it's right in the title! But, to explain it better, they are rounds wherein the round is presented as a challenge, where the one who picks best (as decided by me, natch) will win a fabulous prize! Though, as usual with grand prizes like that, there is a catch...
Ooh, speaking of catches, I should probably mention...
6. To go along with challenges, and with keeping the spirit of the name. During this game, you can also incur a punishment onto yourself or others. I'll be keeping the details of the punishment to myself until needed, as they're surprisingly situational, but let's just say...
You don't wanna be the guy who makes me call a punishment on you.
7. Also, I should mention that I feel this draft is a bit more...open? than the rest. While there are some focused rounds on specific things, most of the rounds aren't specific to any one place or promotion, and some, like the challenge rounds, are more on what you think and want. Though there is a fair little bit of the Japanese-a-wrestling here, as fair warning, as that's my jam. Not an overwhelming bit though, you'll be able to do fine even if you're not a fan.
That's about all you need to know for now. I wouldn't really call this a hard draft, no big knowledge of anything is needed. As advice for one round, get your Google Image Search ready. You'll be needing it.
