Character Info
Name: Chuck Matthews
Height: 6'0
Weight: 225 lbs
Hometown: Chicago, Illinois
Alignment: 0. As a new face to the EXODUS world, the fans are not quite sure what to think of him. Chuck utilizes both heel and face tactics as he pleases, and rarely moves fully into one or the other. He does what he does, and lets the world around him make their judgments.
Entrance Music: "Brains" - Mark Tremonti
Entrance Description:
The heavy bridge of "Brains" erupts through the speakers as spotlights race across the crowd. Chuck Matthews steps out onto the stage, looking around at the people in attendance. He smiles, taking in the reaction of the fans. Casually, Chuck begins his walk towards the ring. He moves calmly, but quickly, making no effort to interact with fans until he reaches the apron. At this point, he climbs up, leaning with his back against the ropes, looking out at the crowd. He winks, and steps between the ropes before climbing one of the corners. He raises his arms in his signature horns before hopping down. He rolls his wrists and neck, waiting for the match to begin.
Physical Appearance: Chuck's kept his hair relatively short compared to his early days, and has allowed it to return to its natural brown. Special attention is often paid to his eyes, which are a grayish shade of blue. Despite his business-like demeanor, Chuck hates suits, and prefers to wander around in jeans and a t-shirt. Several tattoos litter his arms, but there's a noticeable lack of ink anywhere else on his body. It might also interest people to know that he has a lip piercing from his younger days, but rarely wears it.
Ring Attire: Chuck takes to wearing full-length wrestling tights, with matching elbow pads and boots. In terms of color schemes, he'll wear black/red or white/blue, depending mostly on the crowd reaction he's been getting as of late.
Gimmick: "Smartest Man in Wrestling." Chuck has earned a reputation, both in-ring and out, as one of the most intelligent individuals in the business. Despite being in his mid-twenties, Chuck's brain retains the "sponginess" of a small child, which allows Chuck to absorb vast amounts of information and recall them at will. His unorthodox and sometimes erratic thinking makes him a highly creative individual, able to not only think up elaborate schemes, but also to improvise should one of his plans inexplicably go awry. Chuck has made a career out of his "master plans," often long, elaborate ideas that can play out for months before he reveals what he's actually doing. These plans often involve several moving parts, crossing paths seemingly at random, making his plots tough to detect, and even tougher to stop.
Personality: Chuck exhibits characteristics of both the typical good guys and bad guys of the wrestling world, and changes relatively little whether on-camera or off. Always quick with a snarky one-liner, a silly prank, or just general tomfoolery makes gives Chuck the feel of a happy, fun-loving goofball. However, Chuck is as conniving as he is charismatic, and if his plans don't coincide with people's desires, it becomes very easy to dislike him.
List up to three strengths of your character; they can be in-ring related, personality related, whatever you think helps define your character:
1. Not Just a Nickname
-They call him "The Smartest Man in Wrestling," and for good reason. Though never tested, Chuck's IQ is estimated to be between 180 and 190. In the ring, Chuck uses his intelligence to his advantage, able to recognize moves and invent counters with far greater ease than the average wrestler, even if Chuck has never seen the move before. Outside the ring, Chuck's mastery of psychology and uncanny ability to thinks several steps ahead make him a dangerous foe.
2. One Kick, Ten Thousand Times
-Chuck's been in the business for seven years, and his moveset has changed very little since his debut. His signature move, Hollywood Impact, isn't flashy by any stretch of the imagination, but he's learned in time how to use it properly, to inflict maximum damage. Though not an elaborate move, after using it for so long, he's completely mastered the art of the simple spear, able to hit it anywhere, at any time, and from almost any position.
3. Nothing Too Fancy
-It's been noted by fans and critics alike that Chuck has a very simple moveset. Though he adds his own flair to his moves, and can certainly pull off most other more advanced moves should he feel compelled to do so, his most-used attacks are remarkably simple. The advantage is that without the complexity, Chuck is able to get down to "bare-bones" wrestling, using his own distinct advantages, rather than flashy and complicated moves, to win the match.
List up to three weaknesses of your character:
1. Angel with Broken Wings
-Chuck rarely, if ever, goes to the top rope, and in ladder matches, he hesitates to climb the ladder until he's absolutely certain he'll win. As a double-whammy weakness, Chuck also struggles against aerial attackers, as their speed and unpredictability proves a tough match to Chuck's methodical defensive style.
2. An Angry Mind is a Mind that Makes Mistakes
-Though he often maintains a calm composure, it is not unheard of for Chuck to get pushed over the edge. With enough pressure, both in and out of the ring, Chuck is subject to crack, which often causes more problems than it solves. If things become too much, Chuck becomes prone to fits of rage, becoming exceedingly violent towards everyone around him, saying things he regrets later, and in the ring, making mindless mistakes he would never find himself making otherwise.
3. Too Fast, Too Furious?
-Chuck had a meteoric rise in the industry, never attending wrestling school and only spending a couple of years on the independent scene. In addition, it's generally agreed that after only a few years, Chuck was showing the skill of veterans with three times the experience. This has raised some serious speculation on the longevity of Chuck's career, with many under the impression that although Chuck has developed far quicker than his older, more conventional counterparts, he will meet his career's end far sooner as well.
Wrestling Style:
Defensive/Technical. One of Chuck's greatest strengths is his ability to counter moves as he sees them. He's extremely adaptive, and his moveset changes depending on who he faces. Due to his relatively small size, he'll often use his (often bigger) opponents' size against them, but he'll easily incorporate more power-based moves when fighting smaller opponents.
