Biography: Samantha Kae Raine, has always been one to buck against the normal you could say. As she was born in to the lifestyles of the rich and the famous with her father, Zachary Raine, an Advertisement and Marketing Tycoon based out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada along with his trophy wife Rebecca Raine. Who just so happened to once upon a time work for the Xtreme Wrestling League under the name of Whitney Cadra managing a up and coming star by the name of Rick Young.
It was due to that part of Samantha’s mother’s past that her paternity was questioned for the first couple months of her life. As her mother had made claims that Young had sexually assaulted her, because she wouldn’t sleep him and got him suspended pending an investigation in to the matter. Young would have the final laugh as he would come clean and told everyone that Rebecca and he had a relationship, but he ended it when he met Laci Smith.
Which Rebecca didn’t take to well and tried to sabotage his career, because he ended the relationship. However, the only thing that it accomplished was strengthen Young’s growing “Bad Boy” persona while getting herself fired. Rebecca would then marry Zachary Raine, while Rick Young would marry Laci Smith. The early paternity tests all said that Zachary Raine was her father, but some conspiracy theorists always believed that Rebecca found some way of a manipulating the tests to ensure her marriage didn’t end.
As Samantha grew and matured, the idea of her not being Mr. Raine’s daughter came to ahead again, because she was starting to show traits that didn’t run in either his family or his wife’s family. Such as being very aggressive, but also in the sense that she didn’t seem to like designer items at all and prepared cheaper retail versions. However, the nail in that coffin was when Samantha while in High School developed a love for the wrestling business. Something that her mother turned her back on after being shunned over the Rick Young debacle, but more importantly something that for generations of Raine family deemed disgusting and boorish.
However, with her father’s history in the business and the fact they didn’t know much about her family could only assume that it was from someone on her mother’s side of the family. Samantha would badger her parents for months and they finally relented and allowed her to join a wrestling school to learn how to grapple. Which, Rebecca being very sly about it got her daughter in to one of Rick Young’s early wrestling classes. To where she not only got to work with him, but also Mike Young, Ryan Singer, and Chris Pressler. All four men were her daughter’s favorites to watch wrestle, but it was more than that. She wanted to see if there was any kind of connection between Rick and Samantha.
Samantha would train for two years, but when it was time for her to strike out on her own, Zachary Raine stepped in to stop her from making her professional debut. He made her a deal that she could only stay in the wrestling business if she was running a company, because no daughter of his would be abused in such ways. Samantha knowing that she didn’t have a choice, because she knew that her father’s end goal was for her to take over his company when he decides to retire. So at the tender age of twenty, Samantha Raine, was in put in charge of a wrestling company that her father bought just for her to run. During her tenure as the boss lady she hired the men that were responsible for her training which proved to interesting in several ways.
One of the most was when a love triangle between Samantha, Mike Young, and Jasmine led to her debut within the Insanity Cage match that was made famous by Rick Young. Who at that point and time was Jasmine’s ex-husband and of course Mike Young’s brother. Samantha would go on to win the match, but her company would not survive the backlash from it. Her father would pull the funding the company had and it would quickly fold into a sea of debt. Which would lead to Samantha disappearing from the wrestling scene for quite a while.
However, she would return in grand fashion by signing with Global Division of Wrestling or GDW for short. She would join forces with Faith De Luca to form Hidden Desires, a tag team that will be forever known as one of the best tag teams in GDW history. As Samantha and Faith would go on to defeat The Mercenaries and the reigning tag team champions The Harlequins ( Angela Jameson and Glory Braddock) on an edition of Friday night Fever to win the titles in their first match as a team.
Shortly after winning the tag team titles they would lose the titles to a mismatched team of Rayne Everett and Cole Anders at Desperate Measures ‘09. The duo would not be down for long, because at Survival of The Fittest while taking on Everett and Anders and Feature Presentation (Noah Morgan & Presley Hilton) would regain the tag team titles. At this time they would allow Marie Jones to join the fold and morphed Hidden Desires in to H.D. a powerful trio that would defend the tag team titles using the Firebird rules. However, as with anything the bottom fell out on the trio in a big way when Samantha’s mother passed away from her battle with breast cancer. Samantha would take a leave of absence leaving Marie and Faith to defend the tag team titles. Which they would lose to Feature Presentation at the aptly named Last Respects ’09.
Sam would end up taking the rest of December off, all of January, and most of February grieving for her mother. Her first match back was at Civil War ’10 against Mistress Cyanide, but that wasn’t the only match she was in as she also took part in that year’s Civil War match. A match that sees the third runner up get a tag team title shot with a partner of their choosing, the second runner up getting a Television title shot, and the winner getting a World Title shot. Sam would start off the night showing the world that she hadn’t lost a step by soundly defeating Mistress Cyanide in her first official match of the night back.
However, the story of the night was that she would first advance to the final three of the match along with Joey Michaels and Noah Morgan. Two men that she knew very well from her encounters with in them in the tag team division. Michaels and Raine would work together to eliminate Morgan from the match and then the unthinkable happened when Raine would out last Michaels to win the Civil War match. She would win both of her matches and in the process set a record for the longest time wrestling in one night at one hour and fifty-five minutes… nearly two hours. Thanks in part to going for twenty minutes against Cyanide earlier in the night, ninety minutes in the over the top battle royal part of the Civil War match, another ten minutes in the triple threat portion of the match, and then finally thirty minutes against Michaels in the final part of the Civil War match.
With that victory, Sam punched her ticket to the Main Event of WrestleCade VII against Angela Jameson for the World Heavyweight title, but there as a little twist before then as Jake Storm decided to use his Mr. Money’s Million Global X Challenge world title shot contract to insert himself in to the match to make it a triple threat match instead. Sam would get a small measure of payback for him horning in to her spotlight on the March 5th, 2010 edition of Fever when she along with Faith De Luca would capture the Tag team titles for the third time from the Playboy’s Club (Joey Michaels, Jake Storm) just a week removed from them toppling Feature Presentation to win the tag titles for the first time.
At WrestleCade VII, Samantha went in to the event holding on to the tag team championship, but she would not leave them. In a bold move, Samantha allowed Marie Jones to team with Faith using the Firebird rules to their advantage so that she could stay rested for the main event later on in the night. So it was Marie and Faith defending the tag titles against Noah Morgan and Presley Hilton (The 3rd place runner up in the Civil War match) and they would walk away the loser this night. However, Samantha didn’t let that dampen her spirits as she went in to the Main Event of the night and capitalized on her big Civil War win as well. When she pinned Jake Storm during the match to win the World Title for the first time in her career.
Sam would turn back the challenges of several challengers for the title before she would lose it back to the former champion, Angela Jameson, at Purgatory ’10. First the time in her career since signing with the GDW her momentum stalled for a little bit. She would win her matches, but she was simply frozen out of the title picture until Deadly Dreams ’10 where she and Faith would capture the tag team titles for the fourth time. This time defeating the tandem of Kurt Logan and Glory Braddock better known as The Four Royals. It was during this time that Sam would steal the World title from Noah Morgan after his surprising victory over Angela Jameson to win the title to set up a title match between the two of them the following Fever.
Samantha would go on and defeat Morgan in his first title defense. Which at the time made him the short reigning World Heavyweight to date, but also making Sam one of the elite few that have been double champion in the GDW. Some say that Sam partied a little too much after her second World title win, because following Fever she along with Faith would lose the tag team titles to Angela Jameson and Joey Michaels (The J&A Connection). Which was set up as a preview for the Survival of the Fittest main event which was an Insanity Cage Stable War match.
As the GDW at the time were having an influx of groups forming to control of the company. So Jennifer Alan decided to put three members of each team in the Insanity Cage match with four briefcases hanging above the ring. Each case had a single title belt in it and whoever was able to escape the cage would go forward as whatever champion as the title belt they controlled. From Four Royals it was Glory Braddock, Kurt Logan, and Cynthia Hainesworth; Moral Majority, Brittany Lohan, Who am I, and Shawn Atlas; H.D, Samantha Raine, Faith De Luca, and Marie Jones; and finally Team GDW, Angela Jameson, Joey Michaels, and Noah Morgan.
When the match was settled standing on the outside of the ring holding on to the briefcases were Angela Jameson, Samantha Raine, Brittany Lohan, and Glory Braddock. So in the end one member of each team were able to secure a case which made for an interesting title scene, because it meant that tag team champions would more than likely not like one another. Glory Braddock would be revealed as the new Television champion and Brittany Lohan was shown as ½ of the new tag team champions.
In a shocking twist of events, Jameson was revealed to have had the World title belt in her case while Sam had the other half of the tag team titles in hers. The twist was that Sam had kissed Brittany during the match to steal her case from her and Lohan only got another case, because her partner Who Am I give her his case, because he was unable to exit the cage due to Marie Jones handcuffing him to the opposite side of the cage. However, the twists didn’t end there as Brittany would deflect from Moral Majority to join H.D. and form Wicked Desires with Samantha for their title reign.
At the Year-end awards for 2010, Samantha would clean up so to say by winning not only Newcomer of the Year, but Best Tag Team of the year with Faith De Luca, and Match of the Year for her match against Jameson and Storm at WrestleCade VII. As 2010 came to a close it looked like Samantha’s ’11 was going to be just as good as it was starting off with her winning the 2010 Eye of Ares tournament to earn the right to challenge Shawn Atlas for the World title at GDW’s Anniversary show the following week. Which once again proofed to be very fruitful for the already two time World champion as she defeated him for the title just four days shy of her birthday. Which meant for the second time in her career that she was a double champion.
At Civil War ’11 it was short of a bitter sweet night for Samantha, because of her having to defend the World title in the main event she had to rely on Marie Jones to take her place in the tag title match, because Faith was unable to, because she was in the Television title match of the night. Which as history dictates when H.D. had to rely on Marie in the tag titles matches they fall short. However, on this night Marie and Brittany were able to retain the titles, but Sam would lose the World title to Kurt Logan in the main event.
However, the night wasn’t done there, because much like the previous year the Mr. Money’s Million Dollar Global X challenge winner decided to use their title shot after Samantha assaulted Logan after the match. The winner, was Marie Jones, but it wasn’t she who was cashing in the title shot, because just prior to the show Samantha and Marie struck a deal. Sam would give up ownership of her ½ of the tag titles if Marie gave her, her title shot for “just in case”. So officially, Sam’s tag title reign with Brittany was over, but because of how they use the Firebird rules… she was still a double champion in many eyes for the third time.
However, it wasn’t long before that point was a nonfactor, because Sam and Faith would turn on Marie and Brittany splitting away from them and going to back to just being a duo for the first time in two years. So in the record books it shows Sam’s tag title reign on February 18th, 2011, Marie’s reign would end on June 10th, 2011 due to injury naming her cousin Glory Braddock as her replacement. Brittany’s which started back at Survival of the Fittest ’10 with Sam wouldn’t official be ended until Purgatory ’11 on June 24th. Which was when Samantha Raine and Faith De Luca would defeat Lohan and Braddock (Twisted & Sadistic) to reclaim the tag team titles for the fifth and their final time together.
However, before Sam was at that point she would face off with her arch nemesis, Angela Jameson, at WrestleCade VIII in a “rematch” of what was supposed to be their WrestleCade VII match without the addition of Jake Storm. As it was Angela Jameson’s turn to win the Civil War match and set up the main event for the biggest show of the year. In which, history had a funny way of repeating itself as The Civil War winner for the second year in the row came away the victor and new World Heavyweight champion. With Angela ending Sam’s fourth World title reign would mark the end of Samantha’s run at the top of the GDW as it would be her last reign. She would have matches against Brady James, Glory Braddock, take part in a tournament to find a new champion, and against the tournament winner Sophie O’Brian, but would fall short every time.
Despite losing the World title to Jameson, she and Faith De Luca would still hold on to their Tag Team titles until August 20th, 2011. In a match where they were defending them against Kitten Diaz (the third place runner up of the Civil War match) and Rena Rez both new comers to the GDW. However, they would not lose them in the traditional sense of the word as Brittany Lohan would interfere in the match attacking Samantha Raine causing the disqualification with the champs winning the match. Lohan would not be satisfied by just ending the match as she continued assault Samantha so brutally that she would end up being out of action for ten months.
At the 2011 Awards show, it was pretty much a repeat of the year before as Samantha would clean up once again. She would go on to win Finisher of the Year for her “Beautification” finisher, her and De Luca would win the best Tag Team of year award for the second year in a row, and she would also get credited for her second Match of the Year award for her involvement in the Insanity Cage match from Survival of the Fittest.
Twenty Twelve, was really a meager year for Raine, because she would not turn to action until November of the year and for the first time in her career with a different attitude. She tried to make amends for the wicked things she had done, but the fans and her peers were very leery to believe what she was trying to sell them. Samantha would also announce that she would retire after WrestleCade X, but no one really believe that either, but there was one thing about this new Sam that couldn’t deny and that’s the fact that she returned a married woman.
Her husband, Chance Hawkins, would be by her side wrestling under the name of Chance Fortune. With her husband by her side, Samantha, would had another notch on her Hall of Fame worthy career in the GDW as she would defeat Caden Storm on May 27th, 2012 for the GDW Television championship after the previous champion Zack Styles would leave the company and vacating the title. It is on that date that Samantha would etch her name on the short list of competitors to have achieve Grand Slam status within the company.
A couple weeks later Samantha along with her husband would do the unthinkable as they wrestling under their team name of, Chance of Raine, defeated Sophie and Mark O’Brian (Total War) to end their historic near year run as the tag team champions. Which meant for the seventh time Sam was the tag team champion (five times with De Luca, once with Brittany, and once with her husband), but also meant for the fourth time in her career she was a double champion. However, in the end it would be bitter sweet in the end as in the rematch, Total War, would defeat Chance of Raine to regain the title titles and hold on to the titles for a record setting eleven months thanks to that small hiccup provided by Chance of Raine.
Then not even two weeks later, Samantha would lose the Television championship to Dawn Lohan (Brittany’s younger sister.) Which would put an end to Samantha’s championship glory with in the GDW, but she wasn’t done receiving accolades just yet. At the 2012 year end awards she would surprisingly still win Tag team of the year with Faith De Luca for the third time despite the fact that Hidden Desires hadn’t been active for more than three months of the whole year. Which just would go on to prove just how influence they were in the GDW’s tag team division. At 2013 year end awards, which would turn out to be the companies’ final award shows… Samantha Raine would surprisingly take part in a three way time with Dawn Lohan and Glory Braddock for Fan Favorite of the year despite returning to her devilish ways. She would also be honored as one of the two Hall of Fame inductees of the night with the other one being Brittany Lohan.
After GDW’s closure, Samantha would leave the ring to take control of her father’s Advertisement firm while looking to be able to spend more time with her daughter, Alaska January Hawkins. However, it would seem that wasn’t ready to let go just yet as just five months of being out of the ring she is ready to get back in to it with Exodus Pro Wrestling.

How I look at those they are more for pops than wins... I mean really when was the last time Alberto Del Rio won with the Back Cracker/Back Stabber when Carlito use to win all of his matches with it.)
