In front of a packed Korakuen Hall, the aptly dubbed FUSION show lived up to expectations from the opening bell to the main event, and what a main event it turned out to be.
Kintaro Higashikata led Caleb Storm into battle against the tandem of Kenjiro Ito and (R)evolution Wrestling World Champion Jaina Frost. For over thirty-six minutes, the two sides waged war - Storm and Frost both acquitting themselves well against each other, and their more experienced opposition. Storm survived Ito's Blizzard Suplex, and managed to backdrop out of the Ito's Ice Age as the contest reached towards its conclusion. Caleb hit the Chain Lightning to stop Ito's Bakemono Lariat, then made the big tag to Kintaro Higashikata, who went to work on Ito until Frost came in to double team the Golden Hero. A double-team Ice Age got a close two, broken up at the last moment by Storm! Caleb isolated Frost, as Kintaro managed to land the HERO MAKER, bringing Korakuen to its feet as the three was counted. Both Storm and Higashikata soaked up the cheers at the end of the night, arms raised in triumph.
Daniel Lanning and Naoki Arishima lived up to their THIS IS WAR billing in what was a relatively short, but utterly brutal contest. The bounty hunter used his striking expertise to leave the crowd gasping, while Arishima opted to try and drop Lanning on his head over and over again. The crowd gasped again and again, but ultimately, it was Lanning who pulled out what some FIPW observers call a mild upset, stunning Arishima with an out-of-nowhere Taskmaster at the ten minute mark to knock out the former FIPW prodigy, and earn himself a huge win as he prepares to do battle with Jaina Frost for her championship.
Seymour Almasy received his chance to challenge a member of the RW roster, as was his right as trainer. Anderson Cobalt gave the veteran everything he could handle, and more. Almasy resorted to more of his aerial tactics to try and off balance the Ace of the Second Class, while Cobalt fought from underneath, grounding the Final Fantasy. Ultimately, it was a missed Ultima attempt by Almasy, thanks to a timely Anderson roll-away, that proved the difference, with Cobalt wrapping Seymour up in a tight Oklahoma roll for the three count, and arguably the biggest victory of Cobalt's young career.
The Four Corner Elimination Tag bout saw a surprising double elimination, with Damage, Inc. and The Confederacy fighting outside the ring to a double countout. This left the established Samoan Storm duo alone in the ring with the newer GOTHRA & Emi Watanabe duo, and the Storm managed to isolate Watanabe, keeping her away from the speedier GOTHRA. Double-team tactics finally ensured Watanabe's defeat, and Alofa & Ofisa celebrated their hard-fought win afterwards.
Patrick Flanagan and Jackie the Lad could have fought to no other result than a double disqualification, and that's exactly what happened. The crowd, though, didn't seem to mind, as the two men brawled their way through the stands of Korakuen Hall long after the final bell sounded. Insults flew, and it took virtually all of FIPW's security staff to finally separate the duo.
REVOLUTION is now 2-0 in FIPW competition, with Kiriko Miura leading her squad of RW revolutionaries against a main army led by Akira Tamura. The Eternal Star had several chances at revenge on Miura, but Sue in particular kept Tamura at bay. Ultimately, it was the teamwork of Damon Alexander and Elizabeth Lannister that won the day, with a double-team behind the referee's back on Shun Akiyama, the "Master of the Arm Locks," giving way to Lannister's Red Wedding cross-armbreaker, forcing Akiyama to give up the ghost.
Sworn friends Mistress Vivi, Naiser King, and Simon Raines had a successful first time teaming, but their opposition didn't make it easy. The Junji Nagata led team had a strategy - keep Naiser either down by working his legs, or out on the apron. Quick tags kept Naiser in the corner at one point of the bout, until he managed to break free and bring in Raines, who utilized his martial arts talents to great effect. A blind tag from Raines to Vivi eventually spelled the end, as Yousuke Abe never saw Vivi charging to hit her Hurricane Vivienne maneuver as the legal competitor in the match.
Finally, the opening battle royale saw a host of competitors. From Barista to Yukiko Hojo, Anna Giovanna to Kenichiro Honda, fifteen competitors in all did battle. The match came down to Sydney Christensen from RW, and Keisuke Ozawa of FIPW. Christensen took the fight to the more experienced veteran with the rules changed to conventional pinfall or submission. Ultimately, though, Ozawa's experience won out, with the Encyclopedia landing a big Tiger Driver to pick up the win.
