Hey there! I noticed the diary section and saw that it hasn't been active in a while, so I will try and revive it while improving both my roleplaying and match writing skills. I will be doing the diary through TEW 2013 with the Thunderverse mod. The mod is basically an alternate universe that parodies certain aspects of wrestling history (e.g Terry Thunder = Hulk Hogan, Richie Santana = Ricky Steamboat) and also has some fictional wrestlers too. My company is Great Bear Promotions, which isn't in the game but I created it as there were no major European companies and saw a gap in the market. I have played through the promotion with feuds and storylines for a whole year. 2015 is where it takes off.
Roster
Name: Arttu Jensen
Age: 32
Push: Upper Midcard
Theme: Insomnium – Through the Shadows
Finisher – Flashbang (Springboard European Uppercut)
Desc: Arttu Jensen is a Finnish wrestler who made a name for himself in Scandinavian promotion Super Charged Wrestling. Debuting as Flash Jensen in 2002, the young Finn quickly stood out from the pack thanks to his fantastic mat skills and ring psychology. Over the next nine years, Jensen would become the promotion's number one star, combining his time in SCW with tours of Japan, the United Kingdom and the rest of Europe, before eventually being picked up by GBP.
Jensen’s touring commitments with Japanese wrestling companies are the only thing holding him back from a main event push, that and a rather lacklustre feud with veteran German wrestler Tim Volker.
Name: Bear Rusev
Age: 30
Push: Upper Midcard
Theme: March of War – Soviet War March
Finisher: KO (Standing Right Hook /w theatrics.)
Desc: Bear Rusev is a big Bulgarian-American brawler named after the legendary Bulgarian boxer Alexsandr Rusev. A former strongman, a one-time boxer and a man with one of the hardest punches in the business, Rusev cuts a formidable figure in the ring. As one might expect, Rusev's game is almost entirely strike-based, and against technical wrestlers his shortcomings become glaringly apparent.
However, when Rusev joined GBP he garnered lots of praise for his storyline called the “Bear Boxing Challenge” where after winning the European Championship, his manager would give out open challenges every month to shoot boxing matches, which he kept up a winning streak before taking a scripted loss to Jack America, kick starting a feud between the two.
Name: Cameron Cody
Age: 27
Push: Midcard
Theme: Rise Against – Paper Wings
Finisher: Moonstomp (Moonsault Double Foot Stomp)
Desc: They call the young man from Costa Mesa, California "Anti-Gravity". This is because when Cameron Cody leaves the top ropes, it takes him seconds longer to come back down than any other man. Trained at the AWF School of Wrestling, the top sports entertainment company showed no interest in hiring cruiserweights and Cody headed over to Japan where he has become a big star. At the start of 2015 he joined GBP as one of their new signings showing that they are taking more American wrestlers.
While his high-flying is breathtaking, Cody also has great training and is very strong on the mat and up in the air. Known for helping wrestlers crack smiles in the locker room, Cody’s natural charisma and comedy could be hugely beneficial if he can bring his microphone work up to scratch.
Name: Chad Zuma
Age: 35
Push: Midcard
Theme: Springbok Nude Girls – Blue Eyes
Finisher: Zuma Cutter (Standing Cutter)
Desc: Chad Zuma is a South African professional wrestler who revolutionised the sport in his home country. Until the mid-2000s wrestling in South Africa largely consisted of American touring promotions and local feds trying to emulate what they had seen on TV. The son of an influential Johannesburg businesswoman, Zuma and his mother went on to form the first nationally televised African wrestling promotion in a deal with one of the country's biggest networks.
After ten years as the face of South African wrestling, Zuma finally left his country behind in 2012 to a 20,000 strong standing ovation. Zuma's destination was wherever fate would take him, with that fate landing him a job at GBP as one of their first signings.
Name: Clancey Nadeau
Age: 23
Push: Lower Midcard
Theme: Billy Talent – Viking Death March
Finisher: Corkscrew Crossbody.
Desc: French-Canadian second-generation wrestler Clancey Nadeau is a young cruiserweight who debuted in 2011. The son of retired Canadian star Robert Nadeau, Clancey chose not to follow his father's 'entertainer' style of wrestling in favour of the more modern, and more fast-paced, cruiserweight style.
After some impressive showings on the Indy scene, Nadeau was picked up as part of a new trial of cruiserweight wrestlers, to see if it catches on to the GBP fans.
Name: Claude White
Age: 33
Push: Jobber
Theme: Gunther – Ding Ding Dong (Touch my Tralala)
Finisher: None.
Desc: German-born professional wrestler Claude Weiss is perhaps best known to most fans as Claude White, one of the industry's worst mic-workers. Deathly dull, White's promos are said to be lengthy, clumsy, and more often than not confusing. White can't even blame his atrocious interview skills on his foreign heritage, as he speaks fluent English.
Believe it or not, away from the ring White works as a managing supervisor for one of the Mid West's biggest call centres.
Name: Cross
Age: 33
Push: Upper Midcard/Borderline Main Event
Theme: Nirvana – Heart Shaped Box.
Finisher: Crossflow DDT (Single Underhook DDT)
Desc: Scott Cross is a brawler from New Jersey who has becomes something of a cult legend thanks to his work in Hardcore Frontrunners Pro Wrestling SUX. In PWSUX Cross found a perfect home not just for his hardcore style, but a place where he can control his own interviews, which are often off-kilter, and some veterans say some of the best they have ever seen. His creepy, half grunge musician-half asylum patient character has gotten him over as one of PWSUX's biggest success stories, and many think, unlike their other stars, he could actually be a name elsewhere, if he chose too.
However he soon fell out with the direction the company was going and left to join GBP to be the co-leader of the hardcore stable “The Asylum” to go against the companies traditions.
Name: Damien Shadows
Age: 34
Push: Upper Midcard/Borderline Main Event
Theme: Muse – Space Dementia
Finisher: Fade to Black (Sleeper Hold) often used with a light tube.
Desc: Damien Shadows is a vicious hardcore wrestler from Prince Edward Island in the Maritimes. Successfully combining some technical skills with an particularly well played evil streak Damien often uses weapons as part of his wrestling arsenal. Certainly very few men have found a way of breaking out of his Light-Tube Choke Hold or reversing his Barbed-Wire Chickenwing without injuring themselves further in the process.
Shadows worked in numerous hardcore companies across the world before joining GBP in their new storyline where he would co-lead alongside Cross in the hardcore stable known as “The Asylum”.
Name: D'Anton Joubert
Age: 31
Push: Main Event.
Theme: Noir Desir - Un Jour En France
Finisher: Bleu Suplex (Dragon Suplex)
Desc: French wrestler D'Anton Joubert is currently working for GBP as their top main eventing face, being one of only two people to ever get the International Title. Something of a technical wizard, Joubert is a superb wrestler, particularly given his age, and could well be one of the top names in the world given the right exposure.
Surprisingly, despite overtures from AWF in the United States, Joubert has claimed he has no interest in wrestling in a country that seems to dislike pure wrestling in favour of bloody entertainment, which makes him a key player in the new storyline.
Name: Darren Williams
Age: 28
Push: Midcard.
Theme: Gorrilaz – Clint Eastwood
Finisher: Dashing DDT (Jumping DDT)
Desc: "Dashing" Darren Williams is an English wrestler trained by the legendary Sir Alford Evans. While Williams has the looks and the in-ring skills to be one of the top names in British wrestling and even the whole of Europe, having transitioning over to GBP. Unfortunately for him, despite putting on great matches, there is a lack of things to do for Darren at the moment, but his time will come as he is one of the greatest prospects in world today and they would be fools to let it go to waste.
Name: Dmitri Vorobyrov
Age: 30
Push: Upper Midcard.
Theme: eRa - Enae Volare Mezzo
Finisher: Standing Kimura Lock
Desc: Dmitri Vorobyrov is a Ukrainian wrestler who first made his name as a successful mixed martial artist in Japan. A superb middleweight wrestler, Vorobyrov was tipped to be the face of the sport in Eastern Europe until an illness effectively ruled out any 'shoot' fighting. That didn't rule out professional wrestling, however, and Vorobyrov set about retraining with gusto.
Debuting in 2012, Dmitri worked dates in Japan where his skills were highly respected, before joining the newly opened European wrestling company GBP. Vorobyrov was originally set to beat Rusev for the European title but was shockingly knocked out, underestimating the Bulgarians skills. He has been quiet since.
Name: Edouard DuBois
Age: 20
Push: Midcard
Theme: Kyo – Je Cours
Finisher: Le Super Chelem (Top Rope German Suplex)
Desc: Unsurprisingly, French-born professional wrestler Edouard DuBois often finds himself compared to his country's best known wrestling export Jean-Claude Giroux. Many commentators in his home country have gone as far to label the youngster as the 'next Giroux' despite having only just debuted on the European independent scene. A former amateur wrestling standout, DuBois won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games before turning his hand to professional wrestling training six months later.
Although much smaller than Giroux, DuBois has a fantastic look but will need to work on his ring psychology and charisma if he is ever going to match his more famous compatriot, but this didn’t stop GBP from picking up the youngster.
Name: Jack America
Age: 29
Push: Upper Midcard/Borderline Main Event
Theme: Star Spangled Banner
Finisher: Patriot Elbow (Top Rope Elbow Drop /w Theatrics)
Desc: "The All American Boy" Jack America is widely regarded as being one of the best up-and-coming young talents in the business today, boasting an all-round game that is as good as anyone else in the industry. Whether it's brawling, technical masterclasses, high flying, or entertaining the fans on the microphone, Jack is your man. He is also one of the most popular Indy workers worldwide, dodging any contract from big promotions. He signed his first big deal to GBP, being their first European champion, having now the champion in his second reign.
Name: Jason Reed.
Age: 34
Push: Main Event/Loan from big company.
Theme: Oasis – Supersonic
Finisher: Sharpshooter
Desc: "The Sharpshooter" Jason Reed is an English professional wrestler who is famous for his ridiculously large moveset. Claiming to know virtually every move ever performed in public, no two Jason Reed matches are ever quite the same. What is perhaps the most surprising is that in 12 years Reed hasn't become more globally known.
The Englishman has spent time in Japan where he had a successful few tours in 2011, but until recently he seemed perfectly happy to ply his trade in his native Britain. That changed in 2013 when he was contacted by Shane Allman and given an opportunity to shine on the American scene. It was an offer he gladly accepted and so far has looked good in his time with the top US Company. How he got to GBP is with a talent loan with Jack America, starting a long term partnership between the two companies.
Name: Jean-Luc Pascual
Age: 29
Push: Midcard Gatekeeper.
Theme: None.
Finisher: Judgement (Top Rope Double Axe Handle)
Desc: Jean-Luc Pascual is French wrestler who moved to Canada at a young age and works a brawling style. Relatively talented, albeit with fairly limited charisma, Pascual is a respected member of the GBP roster, with a gimmick that won the 2014 gimmick of the year, coming down to the crowd with signs with numbers on them and rating things like “How ugly is the crowd?” or “How pathetic is the city we are in?” Pascual has proven to be a solid veteran.
Name: Light-Tube Lou
Age: 30
Push: Midcard.
Theme: The Postal Service – This Place Is a Prison (Edit by me)
Finisher: Cannonball Senton.
Desc: Louis von Homburg is a young wrestler from Germany who is better known as deathmatch specialist Light-Tube Lou. When he debuted Lou had the potential to be one of the best high-fliers in Europe, but instead turned his total disregard for his own safety into something different - a garbage wrestler with a bloodlust to inflict pain not only to his opponents but also to himself! Unsurprisingly Lou's weapon of choice is the light tube, but it is his high-flying that really helps him stand out from the traditional brawling style associated with hardcore wrestling.
Having worked his way through the European hardcore scene over the last ten years, Lou opened himself up to work in both Japan and the US & Canada. GBP brought him in for the new hardcore invasion storyline. He is said to have been the brains behind it, having worked the European scene before.
Name: Mickie Violent
Age: 35.
Push: Midcard.
Theme: The Postal Service – This Place Is a Prison (Edit by me)
Finisher: Violent Driver (Death Valley Driver)
Desc: Armenian punk enthusiast Mickie Violent is one of the most travelled hardcore wrestlers around, having performed for PWSUX, LLD in Mexico and LETHAL Steel in Japan. It was during his time in LETHAL that Violent's career really took off, and although he never held a title in the company was regularly seen as one of the promotion's rising stars.
After returning to the United States in 2006, Violent had a short and unsuccessful spell in PWSUX. Now working in Europe, where his reputation continues to grow and grow, Violent joined GBP for the hardcore invasion storyline.
Name: Naguib Mubarak
Age: 37
Push: Upper Midcard Gatekeeper
.
Theme: A live improvisational performance from a snake charmer.
Finisher: Sit-out Spinebuster.
Desc: Naguib Mubarak is a former MMA veteran whose brawling style made him something of a cult name in Dutch MMA promotion Kombat Sports Worldwide. The Egyptian's unique southpaw style and unusual headdress really helped him stand out from the crowd of the European MMA scene and his rambling, but somehow charismatic, pre-match interviews were always extremely fun.
In 2009, after a particularly dangerous fight, Mubarak chose to leave the world of MMA behind and move into professional wrestling, where he joined GBP as one of their first signings.
Name: Pierre LeJosne
Age: 22
Push: Main Event
Theme: The Heavy – What Makes a Good Man?
Finisher: Magnificent Piledriver (Reverse Piledriver)
Desc: Pierre Lejosne is one of five sons of Canadian wrestler The Magnificent Mountie and the eldest to enter professional wrestling. Like his father, Pierre is an excellent technician - despite his lack of professional experience - but Pierre also has an excellent look and good charisma. With the potential to be one of the finest wrestlers of his generation, promotions across Canada and the United States are watching Pierre Lejosne's progress very careful indeed.
However, Pierre shocked many when he moved over to Europe to join GBP, becoming a top face very quickly, now in a feud for the International Championship.
Name: Sick Mick.
Age: 19
Push: Lower Midcard
Theme: The Postal Service – This Place Is a Prison (Edit by me)
Finisher: Standing Moonsault.
Desc: Michel Poulin (better known to fans as Sick Mick) is a very young, very green rookie who debuted in June 2012. While far from the worst wrestler in existence Sick Mick probably could have done with another year of training before being debuted.
However, his good attitude, hardcore leanings and reckless abandon managed to earn him a spot on the GBP roster for the hardcore invasion, making him the youngest wrestler on the roster.
Name: Snowman Prince Parker
Age: 45
Push: Jobber
Theme: NWA – Express Yourself (Instrumental)
Finisher: Brainbuster.
Desc: Snowman Prince Parker, so named for his icy demenour, is a well traveled veteran of the squared circle. Best known for his time in the top golden era promotion RAWA, Parker has always been a solid hand inside the ring. After the close of RAWA Parker worked the indy scene in Canada for several years. His solid work saw him win a handful of titles and it was only a back injury in 2011 that saw him go on a hiatus until 2013.
Still looking for regular work, Snowman joined GBP as an easy schedule jobber as his career winds down.
Name: Spellcaster
Age: 26
Push: Midcard
Theme: Jimi Hendrix – Voodoo Child
Finisher: Black Magic Bomb (Running Sit-out Powerbomb)
Desc: The "Master of Black Magic" Spellcaster is one of Europe's most colourful and entertaining characters. French wrestler Claude Marcel uses his Haitian heritage to great effect when playing the part of an evil-shaman-come-party-magician. Spellcaster likes to put a hex on his opponents and will even do a magic trick or two if he feels like it, although his tricks typically end in a member of the audience getting a nasty surprise or covered in goo. He is currently working as a steady midcarder for GBP.
Name: Sylvain Charles
Age: 27
Push: Main Event
Theme: Stromae – Alors On Danse
Finisher: Etiquette Driver (Gory Bomb)
Desc: "La Grande" Sylvain Charles is a professional wrestler from Switzerland who is looking to emulate his idol, Jean-Claude Giroux by becoming the next great European wrestler in the United States. Arrogant, cocky, and brilliant in the ring, Charles is as entertaining on the mic as he is between the ropes thanks to his absolutely brilliant heel work. Infuriating the crowd by refusing to act unless someone "correctly" pronounces his surname "Sharl", the Swiss star can have a crowd on its feet before the match has begun.
Currently the top wrestler and heel in GBP, Sylvain Charles is the longest reigning International champion and continues to put the company on the map with great performances.
Name: Tim Volker
Age: 50!
Push: Main Event/Occasional Wrestler/Icon
Theme: Rammstein – Sonne
Finisher: Volker Lock (Ankle Lock)
Desc: German professional wrestler Tim Volker is a highly respected athlete who came to prominence in the United States with the Real American Wrestling Alliance during the 1980s. An established name in Europe, Volker started well in RAWA, capturing the World title in 1986. However, his bad attitude saw him depushed, and he ended up as a heel tag team specialist with his "cousin" Johan Schwartz. Although the two won the RAWA Tag titles twice, Volker wanted more and quit to join the ailing AWC. His time in the alliance saw Volker's early momentum return and he became AWC World champion in 1995 before being snapped up by the WWWE the following year.
A transitional reign as WWWE World champion followed, and Volker remained in the company until its closure in 2001. Since then he has been going on hiatus to perform with his rock band, before returning in early 2014, joining the new promotion GBP. Despite never getting the International Title, he has been a part of great matches and feuds.
(Summary of the first year will be next)
