Character Info
Name: "The Pretty Boy Assassin" William Bateman
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 223 lbs
Hometown: Los Angeles, California, by way of Dusseldorf, Germany
Alignment: +1 (William is admittedly a recovering asshole. He's perfectly fine with people he respects, but people who he doesn't are subject to his verbal and physical wrath. He's very crude when he feels so compelled to the point of being even worse than some of the most well known bastards in the business. For all of his assholish tendencies, he's generally well liked and heavily charismatic.)
Entrance Music: "Welcome Home" by Coheed and Cambria (instrumental)
Entrance Description:
Physical Appearance: Standing at six foot one, two hundred and twenty three pounds, William is inherently something of a lady killer. His features bear a signature ‘rock star’ quality to them-his facial features bold and defined, blue eyes deep and focused-and his lips ever ready to form one of his typically self-assured smirks. Purposely messy brown hair rests atop his head, usually kept at about chin length, while his cheeks and jawline remain free of any unnecessary facial hair. His frame is lean-appearing skinny to most eyes, yet there is an obvious and impressive musculature present-his body lined with deep cuts, displaying years of work in the gym. His skin is clear and free of obvious blemishes, yet if one looked closer? A litany of faded scars covers his body-the only obvious scar is a diagonal line that crosses from his left eyebrow to the bridge of his nose.
Ring Attire: William’s ring attire is relatively simple-a pair of tight low rise pleather pants, black in color, clings to his lower body. Overtop of his right knee, a heavy hinged brace supports the joint. A pair of black leather boots and wrists bands completes his attire.
Gimmick: The current GM of Redemption over in PW, many thought William’s wrestling career to be largely over-there was no reason to fight anymore. He had made his millions in wrestling, put his own personal stamp on history and won all of the personal battles that one could hope to win... but then the attack on Jonathan Collins happened. Fueled by anger and more than a little concern for his wife, the Pretty Boy Assassin isn’t about to let her fight this particular war alone. Coming off of a near six month lay off, he’s got a bit of rust...but determination to complete the task at hand keeps him moving onward, step by step closer toward the destruction of Gryphon and his supposed ‘Legion’.
Personality: William Bateman, for lack of a better word, is an asshole. Unless he knows or likes a particular individual, he is brazen and shameless in flaunting a certain superiority over them. It’s a quality that his wife, Natalie, has gotten him to work on...but it’s a remaining, stubborn piece of his past. As such, most people may generally dislike him...until he’s given a proper audience. It’s there that the arrogance combines with a natural showsmanship and charisma to make him almost infallible in the eyes of his fans. He says what he wants, regardless of the consequences, in ways that most wouldn’t be able to help but agree. He also has no problem flaunting his status-He’s self made, a multi-millionaire who has earned his money in the wrestling ring. As such, he will brag about his talents and his money, his conquerings and accomplishments, to no end if he feels so compelled. He’s especially prone to this if he feels that the person standing across from him cannot match up. If he’s faced with someone he respects, he will be inherently nicer about his bragging-he won’t put them down so much as he will offer his viewpoints as to why he’s better prepared for the match ahead. If not? He will be an unrelenting asshole, cutting down his opponent to no end. He’s been working on tact, but it’s an ongoing battle-to be respected or to be feared.
List up to three strengths of your character; they can be in-ring related, personality related, whatever you think helps define your character:
1. Relentless-When William Bateman is in the ring, he will go through Hellfire and Brimstone in order to win a match. He’ll maintain a high pace, constantly attacking and forcing the action if possible, regardless of the personal cost involved. He’s about winning the battle AND the war, even if it leaves him just as scarred as the opposition.
2. Endurance-William has a gas tank that’s second to none. A veteran of countless matches, he can fight as long as needed to finish a match regardless of the circumstances involved. It takes a lot to tire him out and even more to incapacitate him.
3. Charisma-William has a unique ability to get the crowd behind him under almost any circumstance. Be it his moments when he takes things a little less than seriously and opts for comedy other than seriousness or those tense moments when blood is trickling down his face and things look bleak, his natural charisma can draw the crowd into it and help turn the tide and momentum in his favor.
List up to three weaknesses of your character:
1. Recklessness-The downfall of William’s relentless nature in the ring, at least when he’s tuned in, is the fact that he will do things without thinking about the personal consequences. He will occasionally harm himself more than the opponent in his need to bring the action, which can cost him dearly. He’ll escape submissions in manners that actually cause more harm than the hold itself-dislocating and damaging his own limbs and joints in effort to turn the tides in his favor rather than take the ‘easy’ way out. He’ll throw himself over the top rope without a second thought as to where he lands.
2. Arrogance-While William is more often than not a serious competitor, he has been known to take it easy from time to time and opt to clown around rather than get his work done due to an over inflated sense of his abilities. While he is in the upper echelon, if not a member of the elite, in the wrestling business...his inability to keep it serious unless it’s a dire and personal situation can bite him in the ass. If he doesn’t have much value in his opponent, he’ll get sloppy because he’s looking to entertain himself more than he is looking to put his opponent away. Until he gets serious, it’s a liability.
3. Injuries-William’s most famous injury is the damage done to his right knee. Caused by an attempt to escape a single leg boston crab, William suffered extensive damage to the ligaments that has required two surgeries. While said ligaments have been repaired and supported by a heavy duty brace, it’s still a weak point that can be exploited. His left shoulder has also been a source of problem, due to several dislocations in the past (another instance of his reckless nature costing him). He is also extremely susceptible to head trauma due to a number of concussions in the past. He’ll defend against such rigorously, but a good shot to the head can leave him dazed, confused and vulnerable.
Biography: Rising from the lowest of low to the highest, most luxurious heights of fame-there is absolutely nothing that he hasn't done. Record setting title reigns, brutal matches and more are under the twenty eight year old hall of famer's belt. Were it not for somehow managing to successfully court Natalie Bateman (nee Burrows), he would probably still be the magnificent and jaded bastard that the world loved to hate. With her at his side, though? He’s still just as much of a bastard as he used to be- it’s just been tempered somewhat, allowing glimpses to the integrity that lay beneath.
Wrestling Style: Puroresu inspired, head dropping with a side of striking, aerial artistry and technical mastery.
Finishers
1. The Kill-(After lifting his foe up onto his shoulders into a torture rack position, William cranks the submission in before pushing them up and over, bringing them down head first to the mat with a pile driver)
2. Fuck Your Face (After securing a thai clinch, William begins to rain rapid fire knees to the face of his opponent. Due to the thick steel knee brace upon his right knee, these strikes almost always hit hard and violently. Blood usually follows once he starts to land those heavy shots. Depending on the context of the match, he will either pummel his foe enough to make them susceptible for a pin or, in more brutal matches, he'll keep throwing those knees until they fall unconscious.)
3. The Swan Song-(Big Match Finisher-William locks in an inverted facelock with one arm while the other secures his foes belt/tights. From there, he lifts the man completely vertical before twisting in a full circle and jumping slightly, his own body going horizontal as he drops. Thus, his opponent is left to drop to the ground with no place for the impact to go but to the back of their head and neck, which is further traumatized by their own body weight crushing down upon their spine.)
Signature Moves
1. Shotei, Mother Fucker! (William runs forward, sometimes straight head, others by a rebound off of the ropes if he needs extra power, and levels his opponent with a ungodly stiff open palm strike to the face or jaw. Can be done as a counter to running attacks.)
2. Californication-(William goes about delivering a normal huracanrana, but instead of bringing the victim over into a standard pinning predicament-He begins the flip late, forcing the victim to land square on their head when they are dragged over and down onto the mat-A very dangerous, painful move indeed.)
3. Sail away-(After putting his victim in a tree of woe in one corner, William goes to the other side of the ring and out onto the apron. After measuring the foe up, William leaps up onto the rope before springboarding across the ring to deliver a dropkick to the hanging foe's face.)
Regular Moves You don't need to fill out all the slots for moves.
1. Kawada Kicks-Attacker grabs his foe by the hair while they are down on all fours and rapidly kicks them in the face.
2. Enzugiri
3. Various kicks
