"I don't like this, Fiona. Your Fool is reversed as always, because you're fucking reckless, but your Wheel of Fortune card is reversed, which means there's something negative outside. I can't tell you what it is though, honestly," Spencer said, looking at the next card. "On the plus side, you and studmuffin's Lovers card looks pretty good to me," she told her friend, smiling at her. Piper, on the other hand, peeked her head over Fiona's shoulder. "Does that mean he's coming over tonight?" she asked with a giggle.
Fiona frowned slightly as she stared down at her friend's tarot cards laid out before her, arms hugging her knees to her chest. She still had no idea how the cards worked but Spencer was an expert at them and she really believed her friend had "the gift" or whatever it was called so she trusted her. "Well that doesn't help me at all, does it?" She asked, shaking her head before she turned to look up at Piper staring at her. "Okay, you two are way too interested in my love life. But no, he's busy with work stuff so I doubt he'll be here tonight," she chuckled, shaking her head as she thought back to the party just last week.
"Someone's got to be interested in it. You got this little Gollum thing going on with that International Title. I moved it while cleaning up the living room and I swore you were going to rip my arm off!" Spencer said, yanking her arm back as she looked surprised at Fiona. "Look, I don't know exactly what's going on, but the cards aren't exactly screaming a pleasant time ahead. What's going on, Fiona?" she asked as Piper rolled onto her stomach to sit with them and join their conversation.
"Because I don't want anything to happen to it! It's brand new," she replied, her eyes squinting at Spencer before they looked back down at the cards. She immediately noticed the way her friend tensed up as she asked what was wrong, leading Fiona to believe her cards had read something bad. Her petite hands rubbed over her face as a heavy sigh slipped through her lips. "I don't know. Everyone is saying things that I only won the title because I'm sleeping with Jon or that I don't deserve it and it's wearing on me, I guess. Jon's talked to me about it and he said he's going to send me away with someone who could help but I still have no idea who or when or anything like that."
Piper, who was stretched out on the sectional on her stomach, kicked her feet back and forth as she watched her close friend. "Don't worry, Fi. Things will work themselves out, you'll see." Piper, always the optimist. "Ooh, he's going to whisk you away..." Piper said with a wiggle of her eyebrows.
"He's going to send you somewhere exotic to finish your training. You're either going to Dagobah with Yoda, or you two are eloping!" Spencer said with a laugh, leaning back to kick up her feet. "Seriously, Fiona, it's a miracle your cousin hasn't tried to throw her boobs in his face. Seriously, I covet those titties she has; she's got enough for like three of us!"
"Spencer! Gross, that's my cousin. Don't talk about her boobs and especially not with my boyfriend in the same sentence," she laughed as she shook her head, trying to get the mental images out of her head. "And I seriously doubt either of those scenarios would happen, although I wish I could go to Dagobah with Yoda. That'd be frickin sweet!" Fiona looked between Piper, her smiling redheaded friend and then Spencer, the insane pink-haired friend in front of her. "I don't think he's the one going to teach me things though. I feel like he's trying to separate himself from me now, especially with all these accusations about me and him going on. As much as it sucks and kills me, I guess he has to do it to save face," she shrugged. "I almost accused him of being against me the other night." Fiona still felt horrible for letting her mouth speak before thinking, almost hurting him with her words.
At those words, Piper dropped her jaw and Spencer's eyes widened like saucers. "NO!" Spencer exclaimed, leaning in closer, resting her chin on her hands. "You have got to tell me everything, spill spill!" she said in a way-too-giddy-for-her-own-good tone as she listened, Piper almost doing the same thing. "You have totally got to explain this one," Piper told her, nodding.
The excitement between her two friends at her relationship blunder almost made Fiona laugh and roll her eyes but she kept it in check. "Well it was at our party last week. He had wanted to talk so we went in my room and said he had to suspend Mandy for complete bullshit reasons and I just....let my anger get the better of me and accused him of being against me for putting me in that match. I thought I had ripped his heart out, he sounded crushed after I said it but you guys know how I get. I get pissed and say things I don't mean and then regret later when I'm alone wallowing in my bed," she chuckled, twirling and twisting a strand of hair around her finger. "We have to keep our distance at work now. I can't even go into his office to say hello," she frowned, looking between the two females with sad eyes.
"So you being alone is the proverbial couch?" Spencer asked, finally simmering down to be more sympathetic to her friend. "Hey, listen...the cards basically said you two are gonna be fine," she reminded her, smiling as she pointed it out again. "It's not like it's gonna get worse. He's an older, mature man. I'm sure he totally gets you," she said, reaching to take her friend's hand.
Fiona nodded her head slowly, realizing that what Spencer had said about the Lovers card was that everything would be fine. "I hope so cause I don't know how much bad shit I can take," she sighed heavily, holding Spencer's hand and giving it a gentle squeeze.
Piper smiled then, reaching forward to lay her hand over the top of their conjoined hands; they were the three amigos. Or three of the Sailor Senshi girls, whichever they preferred on what day. "If it does, you know you've got me and Spencer on your side too," Piper chimed in with a bright smile, squeezing the girls' hands.
Fiona smiled then, finally feeling a little better. "Thanks, girls. You know I love you guys." She was about to lean in and hug them both when a loud bang on the front door interrupted the moment. The three girls jumped, eyes wide, before Fiona was brave enough to get up and pad barefoot to the door, opening it tentatively.
The face wasn't seen, but whoever it was towered over the tiny International Champion. All she could see was shadow as the dark figure loomed over her as he looked down at her. "Storm sent me...get in the car," he said.
Fiona's eyes travelled slowly up the looming figure before her, realizing he was practically a giant compared to her much smaller stature. And instantly, she knew just who it was without ever having to see his face. She gulped, eyes staring before she finally opened her mouth. "Hey girls, I'll be back. I've got something to take care of," she called to Spencer and Piper before she walked out of the apartment, following the dark figure to wherever he had in mind to go.
*************
A handheld camera turns on, revealing night time in the middle of nowhere. The only light sources around come from the moon high above in the sky and a few street lights surrounding the area but it’s not enough to show much of Fiona’s face, as she is holding the camera. The mysterious figure and herself had been driving for what felt like hours before stopping at a rest area, and it is revealed that is where Fiona is as she sits on the picnic table just across from the interstate they pulled off of.
"My calendar's got me just days away from 2013. I know that maybe it's a little cliché to talk about resolutions, but I've got one. I'm going to resolve that in 2013, I'm going to turn some heads. Maybe it'll take harder work in the ring, but I'll start here verbally. It's amazing how people can paint one tiny thing into a monstrous thing, but it's like we're a little sewing circle. People want to accuse me of only winning because of Jonathan Collins. It’s funny people think that, because I don't see him in the ring wearing zebra stripes. I don't see him in my corner, cheering me on. It's easy to pick on that, because people would rather make excuses for their shortcomings than allow someone to enjoy their success. Anything that gets you through the night, eh? Everyone's clinging to a delusion to help them think it's the only way for me to beat them. Well, when the Hogwart's Express starts walloping you upside your damn skulls, maybe the excuses will end and reality will set in."
“You know what’s funny? Cannon and I aren’t far off from having things in common. You see, pro wrestling and Hollywood are a lot alike. In both areas, we can become a character. We can be whoever we want to be but unlike Hollywood and certain people who step into the ring, I don’t need to pretend and that’s what makes me different and stand out from the crowd. Sure, I might be loud and slightly unstable at times, maybe even a little off center if you want to put it that way but that’s all me, baby. I’m genuine down to my very core and the fans can accept genuine. Nobody likes a fake.”
“Now, onto this Abby Park chick. Kudos to you for winning your match, by the way, it looked like it was a real tie-breaker. You stand there and spout off more accusations that aren’t even true so let me ask you something, Abby. Did you see Jonathan Collins out in that ring making the 3-count? Do you see him running down to the ring during my matches to cheer me on in my corner? Or, are you just simply hopping onto the bandwagon so you can get yourself noticed around here? Cause you know, being invisible must really suck something fierce, huh?”
Fiona smirks into the camera, but given the darkness and light casting shadows across her face, it comes off much more sinister than she might have anticipated but chuckles anyways before continuing on.
"Johnny, Abby, Daisuke, all of you who are looking at me right now, this is all I'm gonna say. You've made your decisions about me, and that's fine, but I want you to think about this...do you really think you have me pegged? Do you really believe that you've figured me out? Because the more you hear me, the more I let my soul out, the more I teach you that I'm so much more than you realize...and it's gonna be my pleasure to throw it all in your faces, to prove you wrong. Especially you, Daisuke. When you said we're on a collision course, you better believe it. I'm looking forward to facing you and finishing off whatever Legion you and your mentor think you can bring...because I love him, Daisuke...and his war will be my war. And you're that giant I've been waiting to slay for a long, long time."
"Johnny, I want you to know something. I don't care how facetious you are. You can be as fake and disingenuine as it gets, but they'll get it. They'll feel it. Those fans will know that you're not real. And when it's down to you and me, they're gonna recognize that they didn't need glitz, glamor, and a press conference. They wanted someone they could identify with. I'm not perfect, but you better believe that I'm ready to win. You don't have to believe in me, but you're gonna learn that you should. This belt around my waist? Man...you have no idea how good it feels, Johnny. It means I did it. I did it by myself. I beat the biggest, baddest man in our yard, and I beat one of the angriest. I did it, and I took a step closer to being EXODUS Pro Champion. Believe me when I say that I can't let you end this. I won't let you end this. I've come too far and worked too hard to let someone else marginalize me and take away my dreams. That's right, Johnny. These are my dreams! This is my heart! I'll fight until that heart beats out of my chest, because I know what I have to prove. And it's not going to be a good night for you to try to stop me from achieving my dream. I have something to prove, Johnny. When I beat you, it won't be a fluke. The world will know that I put it all out there. The world's gonna know that I won on my terms. And the world's gonna know that I set the standard. The world will know my name. And you can run and tell Omar Wise and the rest of them what is truth - Fiona Rourke is a fighter. Fiona Rourke is brave. Most importantly...Fiona Rourke is a champion."
“Deuces, bitches.”
Fade.
