Recently, the story direction of EXODUS Pro Wrestling has changed, changed for the more weird and wonderful. It has taken a direction away from the usual norm of an E-Fed, and that of pro wrestling as a whole. Many of you know quite well of the direction we are taking, others not so much. What I am here to explain is the direction that we are taking, laying down some vague ground rules and asking for your input along the way. At least that is the concept of it all. I may just end up sounding like a proper #SorryPaige.
Most, if not all of our handlers are comic book fans. Many are fans of fantasy television shows and literature. A hell of a lot of us are heavily into sci-fi. Our favourite shows, films, computer games and books tend to fall into these categories, and it has often been brought up in conversation over messenger and skype that many handlers wished they could write something along these lines outside of the concept of professional wrestling.
Well, why don’t we simply break down a few walls (Jericho Style) and ALLOW you to do that? And do so WITHIN EXODUS Pro?
Sound too good to be true? You ever wanted to write a comic book hero? Ever wanted to play a vampire? Ever wanted to be a time traveller? These are a few of many roles that handlers have wished to portray in this game of E-Fedding, but have never felt they have been able to because we are based around wrestling. Here in EXODUS, we are going to ALLOW you to do so.
Some of you have spotted some weird and wonderful things happening on the shows, in RPs and on twitter. Characters have started appearing with some weird and wonderful abilities, others are developing them. Look at what is happening to Simon Raines as a character, and his recent claims of an impossibly long lifespan. Look at Strike’s storyline concerning these ‘Marks of the Zodiac’. Eve’s ‘Perfect Evil’ storyline, and many more. These are examples of some of the many things you can now do within EXODUS.
Does this mean we are no longer an E-Fed? Will EXODUS be run differently?
Not at all. EXODUS is STILL an E-Fed. Our shows are still about wrestling, there will still be wrestling matches and titles still matter. There will still be feuds and rivalries, still faces and heels, still tours and pay per views. In fact, there is zero change to anything we don’t already do as a fed. We are just allowing you to go ‘out there’ with your storylines.
So, my character can have special abilities?
Of course they can. If you are considering this approach, please speak to Jon and Nick or even myself over the matter first though. There are many things to consider if you go down this route, major thing being how you are going to go about matters in your CD scenes, and whilst working with other handlers. Also, consider what you want for your ‘special’ ability, or magical background or whatever you intend to do. These abilities, no matter how weird and wonderful, will have no effect on how your character is portrayed on the shows. Also, don’t give your character an ability that makes your character impossible to beat (ie “Hi, I’m Superman”.) It would be embarrassing if your Superman character was defeated by Average Joe.
Remember, match results are still determined by roleplays. The matches themselves are still going back and forth affairs. Nobody is invincible.
Another matter to consider is that these abilities if used in public would be international news. If you saw someone literally fly right past you, you’d probably film it. Things like these would be posted on the net which would go viral and then special agents would be knocking on your door. You wouldn’t want your ‘powers’ exposed to the government, would you?
I’m not that interested in playing a supernatural character. Can’t I just be a wrestler?
There is nothing wrong with this at all. Not everybody wants to be a monster or demon. Some of you will want to play guys who are just here to wrestler, others cat walk models, others multiple sports stars. You can still do this, and there isn’t going to be any penalty to you for doing so. You will still be booked the same; you will still be judged the same. Having a ‘special’ character does NOT give you any advantages on any front what so ever. It merely allows you something different to write about in your CD scenes.
Although, I truly believe that the biggest heroes and villains of this year will end up being just ‘regular’ wrestlers.
Hey, my character is a werewolf! Can I shapeshift midmatch?
Can you bollocks!
EXODUS Pro is still a wrestling show. The shows are broadcast on national and international television and everything on them must be played as ‘real’. Having someone literally ‘Hulk-Up’ or shapeshift mid-match would freak out the audience, not to mention it would broadcast to the entire world that aliens/ monsters/ giant green men were real. Shows like Supernatural and Heroes have characters with amazing abilities and powers, but the ‘outside’ world knows nothing about them. We intend to keep it that way as well.
Look at these special abilities as ‘gimmicks’. We’ve seen vampires in wrestling, we’ve seen Boogeymen. Play it on show like a gimmick, and keep it to the point where a normal person could portray these skills on screen. Stating your character has the literal reflexes of a cat is possible if they have an amazing high flying arsenal. Having different eye colour is possible with contacts. Using Force Lightening is not. Think logically about it.
Most of all, out of all of this, have fun. That is why we have opened this door for you.
