As the commercials close, the screen fades to black. For a moment or two, there is only silence and darkness. Suddenly, a deep, rough voice can be heard, speaking in Spanish. His words are subtitled in bold, white text as he speaks.
Voice: Durante demasiado tiempo, hemos estado atrapados en la oscuridad.
Subtitle: For too long, we have been stuck in the dark.
Voice: Nuestras tradiciones, aunque magnífica, se han convertido en nuestra prisión.
Subtitle: Our traditions, although great, have become our prison.
Voice: Pero ahora ... Nos adentramos en la luz!
Subtitle: But now... We step into the light!
A pinhole of light appears in the centre of the screen, as New Beat by Mariachi El Bronx starts to play. As the intro progresses, the pinhole swells, until the entire screen is full of white light. After a second or two, the white starts to fade out, being replaced with the interior of the Coliseo Inmortal, the small arena almost full to capacity for HELL’s third show. As the camera pans the crowd, the attendees roar, a Mexican wave kicking off, which the camera almost seems to ride like a surfboard. The camera comes to rest on the broadcast side of the ring, where the show’s commentary teams sit behind two separate tables. As the camera comes to rest on the primary commentary team, we cross fade to another camera, a static one, focused on the English Announce Team.
Winston Robinson: Hello, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, and welcome to TRIOS! Live, from Tijuana! My name is Winston Robinson, and I’ll be here conducting commentary duties throughout all the action tonight, alongside my broadcast partner, Dave.
Dave: Aye, there’s some good matches on the show tonight. The highlight, of course, is tonight’s Trios tournament.
Winston Robinson: That’s right! This huge, multi-promotional tournament is being held to crown the first Legión del HELL champions!
Dave: Before any of that, though, we’ve an opening match, with two debutants, as the brawler from the barrios El Cid takes on… What’s this crap?
Winston Robinson: That’s right, he takes on El Anwaro Saado, the cousin of (R)Evolution Pro star Anwar Saad.
Dave: … You what?
Winston Robinson: Seriously, wait, I’m sure you’ll see the family resemblance.
Partido Inaugural:
El Anwaro Saado vs. El Cid
Control Machete's "Pesada" hits the speakers and El Cid strides onstage. He spreads his arms with a big smile on his face, then starts the walk to ringside, taking time to have fun with the fans. He slides under the ropes and runs to a corner, climbs the turnbuckles, and raises his arms. He heads to each other corner in a random order and repeats the gesture before dropping to the middle of the ring and psyching himself up for his match.
El Jarabe Tapatio plays, El Anwaro Saado walks out to the ring with maracas and a big, big sombrero on his head, to a loud chorus of boos from the crowd. He also has fake tattoos of Jesus and gang signs covering his body. With great grace he leaps up the stairs in his flip flops and does a Mexican dance in the middle of the ring,
Looking at El Anwaro Saado with disgust, referee Rafa Monseratte called for the bell. The bell seemed to be all El Cid needed, as he quickly struck whilst El Anwaro Saado was removing his Sombrero, striking him in the back with a hard set of strikes to the back. El Cid took advantage early, putting on a basic, yet flawless, display of wrestling, the highlight of which was an Atomic Drop followed through to Release German Suplex sequence that resulted in a two count.
As El Cid started trying to rally the crowd behind him, El Anwaro Saado got up, and “accidentally” lost one of his flip flops! As Rafa went to pick it up, Anwaro removed his other flip flop, and as Cid turned, slapped him hard across the face with it! Before Cid could react, Anwaro followed up with the Stole You Wallet Esse!, getting a close 2 count whilst Cid was thrown off guard!
This time it was El Anwaro Saado’s turn to face the crowd, this time miming stealing someone’s wallet, as they booed him, as he put his flip flops back on. This piss taking didn’t go down well with El Cid, who came back with a hammering flurry of punches, El Cid’s hard, hard strikes echoing around the arena, reversing Anwaro’s attempts to fight back, before eventually hitting the Sacramento Sunset for the three count.
Winner: El Cid via Pinfall.
Winston Robinson: El Cid with a strong victory there over Tijuana native El Anwaro Saado.
Dave: What the hell are you on about? That’s just Anwar Saad…
Winston Robinson: …’s Mexican cousin. I know, amazing isn’t it? They’re so similar.
Dave: You need to get your head examined.
Winston Robinson: No time for that now, as here comes El Comisionado!
Speak Softly Love (Instrumental) by Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitan starts to play over the PA system. As it plays, we cross to a camera focused on the entranceway, catching HELL’s Comisionado and majority owner, Diego Francisco Rodríguez Cortez, as he enters the arena. The fans cheer for the Lucha legend as he walks slowly to the ring, his impressive figure hidden behind a simple three-piece pinstripe suit. Behind him walks head official Benny Martinez, carrying a large, golden trophy. He waves to the crowd as he walks, before slowly climbing the ring steps, and entering the ring. Ring Announcer Esteban Palacios hands him a microphone, before reverently stepping back into the corner. Diego stands in the centre of the ring, Benny just behind him.
Diego Francisco Rodríguez Cortez: Hola amigos, y bienvenidos de nuevo! Estoy tan contenta de que muchos de ustedes nos han unido de nuevo para este evento especial!
Winston Robinson: Hello friends, and welcome back! I'm so glad so many of you have joined us again for this special event!
Dave: Oh not this nonsense again.
Diego Francisco Rodríguez Cortez: Esta noche, mis amigos, ve el nacimiento de una nueva joya en el mundo de la lucha. El nacimiento del campeonato Legión del HELL!
Winston Robinson: Tonight, my friends, sees the birth of a new gem in the wrestling world. The birth of the Legion of HELL championship!
Diego Francisco Rodríguez Cortez: Esta Gladiadores de México, de Japón, de los EE.UU., serán todos banda juntos para luchar por este trofeo!
Winston Robinson: Gladiators from Mexico, from Japan, from the USA, will all band together to fight for this trophy!
As if on cue, Benny lifts the trophy above his head, to a roar from the crowd.
Diego Francisco Rodríguez Cortez: Guerreros de (R)Evolución , ÉXODO, y el Reino de Japón acompañará nuestras superestrellas en este mismo anillo, para dar a todos ustedes el mayor espectáculo de la Tierra!
Winston Robinson: Warriors from (R)Evolution Pro, EXODUS, and Kingdom of Japan Pro Wrestling will accompany our superstars in this very ring, to give all of you the greatest show on Earth!
Diego Francisco Rodríguez Cortez: Ahora, por favor, dar la bienvenida a nuestros primeros competidores!
Winston Robinson: Now, please, welcome our first competitors!
Benny helps Diego out of the ring, helping him to a throne like chair stationed next to the primary Announce table.
Winston Robinson: I was wondering who that chair was for.
Dave: Enough of that, eyes forward, as we have our first match, with (R)Evolution Pro’s International Super Best Friends taking on our own Los Genios Malvados!
Legión del HELL Cuartos de Final 1:
International Super Best Friends vs. Los Genios Malvados
As the announcing has taken place, (R)Evolution Pro’s Caleb Storm, Explosivo and Takeru Yuusou have all made their way to the ring. Yuusou’s shoulder is quite heavily bandaged, but otherwise the threesome seem to be in good form, the crowd giving an especially loud cheer for the youngest member of the Rodríguez family.
Suddenly, the sounds of wind and thunder starts playing over the PA system, as Dr. Loco and Dr. Malo come charging into the arena, pushing a sheet covered gurney. As the soundscape intensifies, Dr. Loco quickly removes some jumper cables from below the gurney, affixing them to two metal prongs sticking out of the base of the gurney. As he does so, Dr. Malo grabs a large knife switch attached to the side of the gurney, pulling it down with force. There's a shower of sparks, and all of the lights go out, as the music also cuts out. For a few moments, there's nothing, but the flashes of cameras and the light of cell phones.
Suddenly, a sound bite from Young Frankenstein bursts out from the PA System, as a strobing spotlight picks up the thing beneath the cover on the gurney sitting up.!
It's alive... It's alive... IT'S ALIVE!
Suddenly the Dubstep beats of Laboratory Of Evil cuts in, as with a roar, the shape grabs the sheet, and tears it off of him, revealing El Monstruo de Los Genios Malvados! He swings his legs off of the trolley, and stands up, with a roar, barely muffled by his mask. He stands there a while, just roaring at the crowd, until Dr. Loco smacks him about the back, and when the monster turns to face him, he points to the ring, letting out a burst of instructions in Spanish. With a roar, El Monstruo turns and marches down to the ring, Los Genios Malvados following after him, laughing and pointing as they do.
El Monstruo, without breaking pace, leaps up to the apron, before stepping in over the top rope, marching to the middle of the ring, and roaring once more, before just standing there, waiting for the bell. Still cackling maniacally, Dr. Malo and Dr. Loco follow their colossal creation into the ring, under the bottom rope, slowly backing into their corner, as after some quick discussion, Explosivo steps up to face Monstruo. Intrigued by this development, Diego leans forward in his seat.
With the bell, Monstruo roared, and charged the tiny luchador, and would have crushed him if he’d actually been able to lay his hands on him! The two played an elongated game of cat and mouse, with several near misses, as Explosivo used his amazing speed to his advantage, keeping out of the reach of Monstruo’s massive mitts for a solid couple of minutes. Sensing Monstruo’s frustration reaching critical levels, on a run around the ring, Explosivo managed to get a tag in Caleb Storm, before letting Monstruo charge him down at the side of the ring, only dodging at the last second, and letting Monstruo get caught in the ropes. Caleb charged the beast, as Explosivo ran to the ropes, hitting a running Dropkick, barely budging the beast, before rolling back and tagging in Takeru. Explosivo rebounded off the ropes, and came at Monstruo, vaulting the ropes, and catching Monstruo with a huge Spinning Heel Kick to the face, rocking the monster back a bit, before falling to the outside of the ring. Takeru, who’d already run to the ropes, came back as well, going into a Handspring, before hitting Monstruo with a modified Lunchtime Rush, sacrificing himself to take the giant out of the ring head first with the huge Reverse Huracanrana. With the legal men out of the ring, Caleb quickly came in, charging down the two doctors before they’d even stopped arguing about who would fight next, taking Dr. Malo off the apron with a modified Rope Aided Thunderbolt, managing to land on his back and roll back to his feet, calling in the shocked Dr. Loco as he does so.
With this, the pace slow down a little, with Caleb schooling Loco with a high speed sequence of impacts, leaving the box headed scientist dizzy and confused, finishing the sequence with a Taken By Storm, and returning to his corner. Holding his shoulder from the impact with Monstruo, Takeru steps back, letting Caleb tag Explosivo in. The Tijuana Bottlerocket burst out of the corner, repeating the high energy display, further beating down the genius with a lightning fast chain of DDTs and Suplexes, ending with a Mecha Corta that would have given the win if not for the quick thinking of Dr. Malo. Letting Loco roll out of the ring, Malo kept on delivering stomp after stomp to Explosivo, before picking up the young man, and letting his superior weight dictate the pace, wearing down the young man down with a sequence of submission moves. The display was briefly broken up by Takeru Yuusou, who charged into the ring, only to dart past the pair in the ring, and dive over the top rope with a Tope Con Hilo to crash into the slowly rising Monstruo, sacrificing himself once more. The distraction was enough to let Explosivo break free, dashing to the ropes, tagging in Caleb on the way, before catching the staggered Malo with a Caída de Dinamita, bringing Malo crashing to the mat. As Caleb climbs to the top turnbuckle, Explosivo runs to the ropes, Explosivo springboarding back with a Bomba Atómica whilst Caleb simultaneously hits his Moment Of Impact! Caleb hung on and got the three count, whilst Explosivo fended off Dr. Loco, Takeru still distracting Monstruo outside the ring.
Winner: International Super Best Friends via Pinfall.
Dave: The three luchadors showing great teamwork and strategy there, getting the main threat isolated, and using their great speed and skill to win the day.
Winston Robinson: The team from (R)Evolution Pro getting the early victory! Amazing skill from both Caleb Storm and Explosivo there, with Takeru Yuusou valiantly sacrificing himself to keep El Monstruo at bay.
Dave: He seems to have aggravated that shoulder injury, however, an injury we’ve been told is a training injury of some kind. We’ll have to see how that effects the rest of his tournament.
Winston Robinson: Next up, the fearsome Los Guerreros de Miedo will be taking on the law enforcers of EXODUS, Storm! Right after these messages.
Winston Robinson: Welcome back everybody! Thanks for staying with us through that short Commercial Break. Next up, we go straight to the second match in our tournament!
Legión del HELL Match Cuartos de Final 2:
Los Guerreros de Miedo vs. Storm
Storm are already in the ring, with Beowulf, Saikosoma and Ruby Tyler waving to the crowd. The lights dim, and as the drum intro to Cucarachas Enojadas blasts over the PA system, Los Guerreros de Miedo appear in the entranceway, bathed in a dark green light. They stand there as the intro plays out, Miedo in the centre, Las Manos to either side of him, surveying the crowd, bathing in their boos and jeers. As the music picks up in the tempo, they head straight for the ring, Miedo nodding his head in time to the music as his brothers snap insults at the crowd. As they reach the apron, they speed up, sliding in under the bottom rope, before springing back up to their feet. Miedo gazes at the crowd all around him whilst his brothers each run to opposite ring ropes, climbing up on them and bouncing on the middle rope. Miedo lifts both fists high in the air with a roar, with Derecha and Izquierda each raise their signature arm. Miedo stays put in the middle of the ring, not retreating to his corner, as his brothers join him in waiting for the match to begin.
Before Carolina Lopez Herrera could call for the bell, the six wrestlers took a moment to square off against each other. Ruby with Derecha, Saikosoma with Izquierda and Beowulf with Miedo. None of them moving an inch, ignoring the calls from Carolina to make their way to their corners. Frustrated, she eventually threw up her hands, calling for the bell, as the three pairs got straight to it! Ruby and Saikosoma started battling Las Manos back to the ropes, as Miedo and Beowulf started exchanging massive blows in the middle of the ring. The match was an all out brawl, with the pairs brawling in and out of the ring, Ruby and Saikosoma exchanging opponents at one point, and Beowulf and Miedo going at it relentlessly, neither man giving any quarter to the other.
Eventually, with Las Manos keeping Ruby and Saikosoma out of the ring on the outside, Miedo got the advantage over Beowulf, managing to get his colossal strength and weight into manhandling the Englishman about the ring, throwing him from pillar to post, with Beowulf refusing to stay down. Showing his massive strength, Miedo hits a Temiendo Este, followed by a second Temiendo Este, before finishing Beowulf with a Garra Miedo for the pinfall.
Winner: Los Guerreros de Miedo via Pinfall.
Dave: I’d like to say I’m surprised that my former partner got the loss, but let’s be fair, Miedo is a monster. I’m saying it now, the result of this contest is a foregone conclusion.
Winston Robinson: As much as I hate to admit it, Los Guerreros are a dominating force here in HELL, and even with all these foreign stars involved, I don’t see anybody taking the win from them. Next up, we’ve got our next Trios match, as the debuting El Héroe Azul and his High Flying Heroes take on the representatives of KJPW, Genji Yamato and his Fighting Love Dojo!
Dave: This should be a good match, Winston, both El Héroe Azul and Genji Yamato are seasoned veterans, teaming up with younger men. In Genji’s case, it’s his students Kohei Obata and Hajime Kon, the duo now tearing up (R)Evolution Pro as KON-BAT, whilst El Héroe has teamed with the… interesting El Buho, and the young man who seems to have taken on the mantle of White Phoenix.
Legión del HELL Match Cuartos de Final 3:
Fighting Love vs. High Flying Heroes
As the strains of Climbatize fade out, Genji Yamato stands in the middle of the ring, flanked on either side by the pairing of KON-BAT, waving to the crowd. As they stand there, the sweeping theme of "The Avengers" plays over the PA system, as El Héroe Azul leads out his teammates, White Phoenix and El Buho. The trio head down the aisle, playing to the fans a little bit as they reach the ring. Upon entering, each man takes to a turnbuckle, though El Héroe Azul receives the largest reaction of the three by far when he poses. As KON-BAT return to their corner, and White Phoenix and El Buho return to theirs, El Héroe Azul and Genji Yamato slowly make their way to the centre of the ring. With great respect, the two men bow, before stepping back slightly, allowing the bell to be rung!
The two slowly circled each other, before locking up! What followed was a showcase of traditional wrestling not seen for some years, as the pair transitioned through hold to hold, each man vying for position, but each being evenly matched. Eventually, the pair parted, and to a round of applause from the crowd, they stepped apart, nodding at each, before tagging in White Phoenix and Kohei Obata! It was apparent from the off that Obata was unsure about the most recent wearer of the White Phoenix mask, a scenario that Phoenix was quick to take advantage of, taking Obata off guard with a display of Strong Style wrestling where he obviously expected Lucha! On the wrong foot from the off, Kohei was unable to settle, eventually being taken down by Phoenix’s White Out, for a 2 count. There was a cheer, as White Phoenix tagged in El Buho to carry on the assault!
As Kohei got to his feet, Buho was on him, his chain wrestling style throwing Obata into disarray, the relatively inexperienced rookie not sure how to handle to mixing up of styles. Buho stretched, twisted and tweaked Obata in each and every direction, until Kohei finally managed to wrestle himself free, managing a brief counter attack, whipping Buho into the ropes, only for the Owl Man to counter it, sending Obata running, whilst winding up with his right arm, clocking Kohei with the Punky Punch on his return… to no effect. Kohei stood, unsure for a moment, as Buho just kind of shrugged, before Kohei burst forward, taking Buho down with a huge Crooked Arm Lariat, before tagging in Hajime!
Kon charged out of the corner like a beast, taking the small Buho out with a huge Spear straight off the bat. He followed with a sequence of tosses and slams, before he ran to the ropes, only to get a knee to the back from Azul! As he turned to remonstrate with the veteran, Buho charged forward, seemingly going for the #1 With A Bullet, only to be caught by surprise as Kon turned, and levelled him with a Big Boot. Showing his mammoth strength, he dragged Buho to his feet, before levelling him with his huge Powerbomb. As he jack knifed the American for the pin, Genji and Kohei hit the ring running, both managing to intercept Phoenix and Azul before they were able to break up the pinfall, Phoenix managing to slip past Genji, but breaking up the pin a half second too late!
Winner: Fighting Love by Pinfall!
Winston Robinson: What a match! Both of these veterans put on an amazing display, and their team mates gave a solid showing too.
Dave: Hajime Kon is generally the more quite of the KON-BAT pairing, but it’s the quiet ones you need to watch out for.
Winston Robinson: We’ve got one more Trios match to fit in before out commercial break now.
Dave: And, to be fair, this is the one I’m most interested in seeing. Last week, Funky Dragon won his match against Aries Reed, unmasking as Aries’ brother Cassius in the process. This is what he claimed as his prize, entry to this tournament, replacing Rosa and her team.
Winston Robinson: And the word backstage is that Rosa was massively angry at being taken off the card to fulfil her fathers “debts”.
Dave: Well, Rosa’s a worry for another day. Right now, we’ve got Crash Delgado’s Los Vigilantes taking on the Brothers Reed!
Legión del HELL Match Cuartos de Final 4:
Los Vigilantes vs. The Brothers Reed
As Not Today bursts out over the PA, Crash comes charging through the entranceway, Thunder and Django marching in to either side of him, to a barrage of cheers from the crowd. At the top of the ramp, Crash removes his t-shirt, throwing it into the crowd, before sprinting down to the ring at full speed, Django and Thunder keeping their slow march on. Crash leaps up to the apron in a single bound, before spinning on the ball of his foot, hooking one leg over the middle ring, and spreading his arms wide beckoning the crowd to chant for him. After headbanging to his theme on the apron a little, he finally steps into the ring between the top and middle ropes, spinning as he does, calling for the crowd to cheer him, as Django and Thunder also make their way into the ring, before the threesome group in the corner.
Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone plays over the PA, as The Brothers Reed all enter into the arena, slowly walking to the ring en masse. Aries and Cassius exchange insults with some of the crowd, as Darius walks between them, focused on the ring the whole time. The group stop outside the ring, and discuss their approach on the outside, before Aries enters the ring. Checking his opponent out, Crash signals that he’ll start, with Thunder and Django leaving the ring.
The start of the match was quick and violent, Crash getting in Aries’ face from the get go, but the loudest of the Reed Brothers didn’t back off. After some jockeying for position, Aries got the upper hand, his technical prowess getting the better of Crash’s fast brawling style. Aries demonstrates his own unique interpretation of some of the chain wrestling techniques we’ve seen earlier in the show, transitioning from stress holds to suplexes and back again. As Aries backed away, Cassius leant in, and tagged himself in on his brother’s back, strutting past his confused and infuriated brother to the vulnerable form of Crash Delgado. Following up from Aries’ technical offence, Cassius knocked it up a notch, hitting a fast paced sequences of DDTs and Huracanranas, effectively keeping Crash from getting to his corner to make the tag, finishing the sequence with a Funkset Flip for a 1 count. Cassius returned to his corner, with Aries chomping at the bit for the tag, but Cassius ignored him, tagging in Darius instead. The two brothers swapped places, with Aries and Cassius quickly getting into a squabble on the apron.
Darius hit the ring like a man on fire, first charging the diagonal length of the ring, sending both Thunder and Django flying off the apron with a huge Double Clothesline, before coming back, and continuing the beat down on Crash, throwing him right across the ring with a huge T-Bone Suplex. As Thunder and Django came back up, trying to remonstrate with Darius, and referee Rafa Monseratte moved to intercept them, the Reed Machine went into motion, with Aries and Cassius promptly stopping their fight, and getting into the ring. Cassius pulled Crash to his feet, whilst Aries pulled the notorious black glove from his pocket, hitting Crash with the Black Sack! The two brothers then sent Crash running to the ropes, before they both went running to the ropes themselves. Darius stepped up, and sent Crash flying into the air with a huge Pop-Up, before the rebounding brothers came back and both leapt, dragging Crash face first into the mat, completing the Death By Reed II, the crowd wincing as Crash’s face gets planted into the mat. Darius quickly secures the cover, with Aries and Cassius breaking off, and both sending Thunder and Django off the apron, getting Rafa’s attention to count Darius’ pinfall, with The Brother Reed picking up the pinfall victory.
Winner: The Brothers Reed by Pinfall!
Dave: The Brothers Reed dominating Crash there, Thunder and Django not even getting a look in. If Aries and Cassius can’t get their acts together, their next round won’t be anywhere near as easy, as they face Genji Yamato and his Fighting Love dojo.
Winston Robinson: As you say, that’s our first round concluded, with only one HELL team reaching the semis! As well as the Brothers Reed now taking on Fighting Love, the International Super Best Friends are also going to tie it up with Los Guerreros de Miedo!
Dave: We’ve more commercials now, but when we get back, we’ve got a break from the tournament as we switch to Parejas action, as the ever flamboyant team of El Macaw and Bradley Chadwick take on Romero Antiguas, furious with his loss against the pair last week, teaming up with the scourge of the Tecnicos, JUNKETSU.
Dave: And we’re back.
Winston Robinson: Hello fans, whether you’ve been with us since our opening match, or with us since now, we hope you’re ready for great action, as we get straight into tag team action.
Dave: I’m looking forward to a bit of a break from all this Trios action, myself.
Parejas Sensacional:
Bradley Chadwick y El Macaw vs. JUNKETSU y Romero Antiguas
JUNKETSU and Romero Antiguas had already made their way to the ring during the commentators’ introductions, the crowd booing the arrogant Texan and the Tecnico hunter. Their jeers gave way to cheers, however, as the lights faded in the arena for a moment, multiple coloured spotlights showing up as the PA system picked up immediately from the 32 second mark of “What’s Up” by 4 Non Blondes, a figure slowly stepping forward from the curtains, his silhouette partly covered by a pair of huge macaw wings until he’s in full view of the spotlights, revealing himself to be none other than “El Macaw”, walking alongside Bradley Chadwick, as the crowd cheers appropriately as they took a look at the visage. It didn’t take long for El Macaw to walk down the ramp, calling himself things like a “firestarter, baby” and telling the world he’s ready to bring the fun straight down to HELL, as Bradley strut alongside him, flirting with any and every one, as he then hopped up on the apron and entered the ring carefully, the spotlights coming down to the centre of the ring as a familiar line to meme enthusiasts everywhere hits the PA system…
AND I SAY HEEEEEEYYYYYEEEEEHEEEEYYYYYAAAYAYAEYAEYAAAAAAA
I SAID HEY! WHAT’S GOING ON?!?!?!?!
At the cue, El Macaw spreads his wings wide to the awe of the crowd, whilst Bradley sang the chorus of the song in full, leading the crowd along to it, getting even bigger cheers from them before the lights return to normal and “What’s Up” faded from the PA system, while El Macaw carefully removed his macaw wings, passing them along to the timekeeper on the outside and preparing for his match.
Romero was quick off the gun, attacking Bradley aggressively, trying to get revenge for his perceived humiliation the previous show. Using his size advantage to great effect, his more traditional American style keeping the high flying Chadwick grounded, a constant barrage of medium impact strikes and slams leading to a Fireman’s Carry Gutbuster, and a near pinfall broken up by El Macaw. Frustrated, Antiguas decided it was time to get serious, and brought in JUNKETSU.
Her hard striking style kept Bradley off his game, keeping up the offense, including a quick Rolling Koppu Kick catching Macaw off guard, sending him flying off the apron, before locking the Junketsu Mubyoshi in, getting the pressure up, Bradley writhing in pain. To Chadwick’s testament, he managed to keep it together long enough, to just stretch his foot to the rope and get the rope break! Incredibly annoyed, JUNKETSU lifted Bradley up, eyeing up the Junketsu Senpu, only for Bradley to stun her with a backward Headbutt, he ran to the ropes and broke the momentum with a Springboard DDT!
What followed was a tense couple of moments, with Chadwick crawling to his corner as JUNKETSU started to stir, Bradley getting the diving tag just as JUNKETSU was about to grab him, and El Macaw flying in over the top rope to a roar from the crowd, hitting the Slingshot Crossbody! Eager to have vengeance, Romero hit the ring too, only to get taken out by a Dropkick. JUNKETSU came back, only to be caught by a Huracanrana that sent her over the top rope, making Romero the legal man! Antiguas tried to come back at Macaw, but the bird was on fire, hitting the Homenaje a La Serafín, knocking Romero flat down on the mat! With this, Macaw cried for the crowd to cheer him, as he started running the ropes, samba dancing as he does, before crying GGOOOOOOAAAALLLLLL as he went for the TIRO PENALLLLLLLLLL (DE MACAW)~!!!!!!!... only for Romero to roll out of the way! With Macaw off balance, Romero quickly got to the feet, hitting Macaw hard in the gut, before drawing his thumb across his throat, eliciting a hushed silence as he picked up Macaw, looking for the Martinete! Macaw started wiggling, however, slipping through Romero’s grip a little, before reaching between Antiguas’ legs and copping a feel! Romero reacted shocked, and taking advantage, Macaw pushed himself up, before swinging back through to hit the Technicolor Wonderland! JUNKETSU came in to break up the pinfall, only to be taken out at the last second by a Flying Calf Kick from Chadwick, letting Macaw get the 3! As Bradley and Macaw left the ring, dancing up the ramp together to the delight of the crowd, JUNKETSU stared daggers at the over the ropes, as Romero Antiguas argued the result with the referee.
Winners: Bradley Chadwick y El Macaw by Pinfall!
Dave: I really thought JUNKETSU and Romero Antiguas had it there, but it just goes to prove…
Winston Robinson: YOU CAN’T COUNT OUT THE BIRD!
Dave: … Right. Anyway, El Macaw is really showing himself to be a stand out competitor here.
Winston Robinson: And keeping the action flowing, here’s our next match, as the winners of our first tournament match, the International Super Best Friends from (R)Evolution Wrestling, take on our very own Guerreros de Miedo.
Dave: An interesting match, as I believe this is the first time Robbie Rodriguez, sorry, Explosivo, has faced any of his family in in-ring action, and he has to face three of his meanest older brothers all at once.
Legión del HELL Match Semifinal 1:
International Super Best Friends vs. Los Guerreros de Miedo
With the introductions complete, the two groups stood face to face across the ring from each other, Explosivo nervously eyeing up his three terrifying brethren. With Takeru still favouring his injured shoulder, Caleb stepped up to start the action, with Miedo stepping straight up to face him. Even faced with the awesome sight of the Terror of Tijuana in front of him, Caleb Storm stood proud, bravely taking the fight to the big man from the bell! Miedo, for at least a moment, is surprised by this tactic, Storm using his superior speed to rapidly assault Miedo’s legs and vertical base. An Enzuigiri, however, proved to be a leap too far, with Miedo catching the young high flyer. And with Miedo’s massive mitts upon him, Storm’s day rapidly got worse, as the unbelievable strength of Miedo showed itself, Miedo throwing Storm from pillar to post, with seemingly no object or sense of aim other than to show his dominance. Caleb was far from out, however, and one Powerbomb attempt from Miedo he managed to push himself up and over Miedo’s head, grabbing a hold of the waist on the way down, and rolling up Miedo for a surprise two count, to the startled hush of the audience. Caleb quickly celebrated his near pinfall, only to turn, and lay eyes upon the… let’s say vexed face of Miedo. As Miedo charged, Caleb hightailed it, sliding out of the ring, keeping on running around the ring as Miedo followed him! Mano Derecha entered to replace Miedo, and with Explosivo hesitant to enter, Takeru Yuusou stepped up to the plate. As Derecha charged, Takeru ducked, running to the opposite ropes. Derecha braced himself against the ropes, stopping himself running, but he kept himself there too long, and as Takeru came back, he hopped up, using Derecha’s back as a stepping stone, before hitting a Vaulting Body Press to Miedo… but Miedo doesn’t fall down, only stagger a little, as he catches Takeru on his shoulder. Trying to take advantage of the big man’s distraction, Storm went back on the attack, trying to keep Miedo out of the action. In the ring, and faced with no other option, Explosivo finally entered the ring, as Las Manos taunted him. Uncertainly, he squared up with Derecha, deftly dodging all of his older brothers’ over-confident attacks. As Derecha grew more frustrated, Explosivo grew more confident, eventually hitting his brother with a ¡Pelé!. Unfortunately for Robbie, that’s where it went wrong.
Outside the ring, Miedo, Takeru and Caleb were still battling, with the two friends managing to slam Miedo into the barricade, getting the referee’s attention! As he went to check on the outside, Explosivo went for the pinfall… but it doesn’t get counted. Incredulous, he goes to check on the ref, only for Mano Izquierda bursting out of nowhere with a ¡Demonio!, bringing Explosivo crashing back to the mat. Quickly rousing his brother, the twins ran to the ropes, and as Explosivo started to rise, Las Manos returned, planting Explosivo hard with the Manos de la Muerte! As Derecha picked up the pin, Izquierda got the referee’s attention, the three count getting called as Izquierda hit a Tope Suicida, hitting Takeru in the shoulder, and taking him out before he could interrupt. Laughing maniacally, the twins roll their unfortunate brother out of the ring, as Miedo arrogantly pushes Caleb aside to join his brothers in the ring. Outside, Caleb and Takeru console Explosivo, Takeru heavily favouring the injured shoulder.
Winner: Los Guerreros de Miedo by Pinfall!
Winston Robinson: And Los Guerreros advance!
Dave: It’s a shame, because those kids did great, but Los Guerreros are a massive threat. It just goes to prove that even if you somehow manage to neutralize the force of Miedo, Las Manos are still a deadly combination on their own!
Winston Robinson: And as we have the arena cleared, we’re ready to announce our next match, as Genji Yamato’s Fighting Love dojo come face to face with The Brothers Reed! With Genji’s ongoing feud with Aries Reed still going strong, you know this one’s going to be huge.
Legión del HELL Match Semifinal 2:
Fighting Love vs. The Brothers Reed
As we came back, The Brothers Reed were in the ring, Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone fading out, Cassius posing to the crowd, drawing a smattering of cheers, in comparison to the boos his brothers are getting. As Climbatize by The Prodigy played over the PA system, the men from Fighting Love came out, and stood in the entrance way, as Genji did his Fighting Love pose at the top of the entranceway. Afterwards, the three men made their way to the ring, not wasting any time as they climbed in, and stood opposite the brothers, Genji pulling his Fighting Love taunt focused at Aries. Aries quickly glanced left and right, at his brothers, before the three men surged forward. However, it seemed that the men from Fighting Love were expecting it, and pushed forward to meet the attack!
Aries went straight up with Genji, Hajime vied for position with Darius, and Kohei gunned for Cassius. Genji went in hard, forcing Aries back quickly, as Kohei tried to repeat the formula with Cassius, but with marginally less success as Cassius’ unorthodox style and high speed dodging kept him out of danger. Hajime has the most trouble, the big bull of the Fighting Love dojo having more trouble with the even bigger bull of the Brothers Reed, as Darius quickly overpowers the younger Japanese man. The match finally went to some type of standard set up as Genji sent Aries over the top rope with a Lariat, following him. Kohei tried the same with Cassius, but Cassius dodged, rolling backwards over the tope, before skinning the cat, and as Kohei tried to push him off the rest of the way, Cassius pulled himself up, and dragged Obata over the top rope with a What Da Funk?, coming down to the outside with him.
The ring cleared around them, the two powerhouses went at it, the force of their blows echoing around the weekend, as the pair exchanged chops, forearms and elbows, trying to take the other man down. Out of the ring, Cassius and Kohei are still going at it, Cassius mainly trying to just keep Kohei busy, as Aries does the same, weathering the Yamato storm and trying to keep Genji distracted, the brothers doing their best to keep Hajime isolated in the ring, as Darius manages to get the upper hand, managing to get some heavy blows and slams laid into Kon. Kon managed to fight back, just getting back in it, a massive Superkick rocking Darius Reed, only to be caught off guard by a huge Jumping Enzuigiri, quickly knocking Kon back, and as he roared and charged once more, frustrated this time, Darius struck, taking advantage of Kon’s relative naïveté, and hitting him with a Reed Family Dynasty. Just as Genji realised what was going on, it wasn’t enough, just hitting the ring fractionally too late to break up the pin, repeating the events of the KJPW vs. REVOLUTION trios match from EXODUS/Kingdom II. As Genji pounds the mat in frustration, Cassius disengages from Kohei, as the young man realises he’s been played, and Aries groggily gets up, Darius collecting him up, and the Brothers Reed retreating up the ramp under the rage filled eyes of Yamato.
Winner: The Brothers Reed by Pinfall!
Winston Robinson: The Brothers Reed showing unusual tactics there.
Dave: Nothing unusual about a bit of divide and conquer. They had Yamato keyed as the big threat, and kept him distracted. It’s exactly the same strategy as the (R)Evolution kids used in the previous match, just with better people management.
Winston Robinson: OK folks, it’s time for one final commercial break, then we’re on to our final matches. We have the finals of the Legión del HELL tournament, as Los Guerreros de Miedo take on the Brothers Reed! Before that one though, Calavera of Los Fantasmas takes on the mysterious Sombra Oscura! Stay tuned!
Winston Robinson: Welcome back, everyone, for the final instalment of TRIOS! At Dorado, one competitor who impressed many in our Battle Royal was the mysterious La Sombra Oscura.
Dave: Well, it seems Diego was impressed enough to give him an almost main event booking, as he takes on one of the rising stars of our Parejas division, the spirit known as Calavera.
Boxeo de Sombra:
Calavera vs. La Sombra Oscura
The drums and guitar that opens up "Is Happiness a Mediocre Sin?" by The Color Morale began to play as the crowd begins to stir to life at the arrival of Calavera! Ignoring the crowd he stood at the entrance, before making his way down to the ring! Calavera slowly walked down the aisle and ignored the fans, slowly hopping up to the apron before grabbing the top rope and using it to slingshot in as he rolls through and dropping to a knee, his arms extended as his stretches his arms to the side! Finally after a moment to pose, he points upward as he stands up, spewing out mist as he looks up to the sky, getting a reaction from the audience!
This is what you want...
...this is what you get.
This is what you want...
...this is what you get.
As Public Image Ltd's "The Order Of Death" creeps over the speakers, the arena darkens dramatically. The black form of La Sombra Oscura skulks out and begins his slow walk to the ring. Ignoring the fans completely, he climbs onto the apron and steps through the ropes, and calmly takes his corner while he waits for the bell, displaying no emotion but patience.
As the bell rang, Calavera moved to the centre of the ring, with Sombra doing the exact same, barely a moment behind him. Calavera seems almost confused, as he goes to hook up, with La Sombra mirroring his movements exactly. Unsure, Calavera stepped back, with La Sombra doing exactly the same. Growing frustrated, Calavera turned to the crowd, before turning back to a Sombra Thrust Kick from La Sombra! Mimicking Calavera’s Strong Style technique, La Sombra kept on the attack, using strong striking attacks to keep the confused Calavera on the defensive. Quickly turning the action, Calavera reversed a kick into a Dragon Screw, before releasing a more grapple based offensive to try and keep La Sombra off balance, landing a sequence of Suplexes, Slams and DDTs, culminating in his signature Russian Leg Sweep. Roaring in satisfaction, Calavera lifted Sombra back to his feet, signalling for a second Russian Leg Sweep, only to get a sequence of Elbow Strikes to the face for his trouble, followed by a Sombra Russian Leg Sweep! La Sombra went for a quick pin, with Calavera kicking out at one, showing substantial frustration at the count.
Calavera went straight back on the attack, intensifying in rage, with stronger, more methodical strikes, continuing to attack Sombra against the ropes, with the referee breaking it up and warning Calavera for excesivo castigo. Calavera merely shrugs, going in to continue his attack, only to be caught by surprise as Oscura hit a Sombra Knee Smash, following up quickly with a Uranage Suplex. Mimicking Calavera’s rage, a series of hard strikes came in, punishing the spectre on the floor, before the referee was forced to warn La Sombra for excesivo castigo too.
Calavera got up, and reversed a Roundhouse Kick from Sombra into a hard Dragon Screw. More hard attacks came into play, culminating in a sequence when Calavera sent La Sombra to the ropes, vaulting him on the first return, and catching him with a Mule Kick on the second. He hooks up La Sombra Oscura for a Corazon Helado, but as he lifted, Oscura slipped three, flipping over Calavera’s head, spinning in the air and landing on his feet facing Calavera, before hitting him with a Double Knee Backbreaker. Quickly taking advantage, La Sombra Oscura hit the top rope, diving off with a Sombra Gris Cielo Peligro, connecting and picking up the three count.
Winner: La Sombra Oscura via Pinfall!
Winston Robinson: Highly unorthodox from La Sombra Oscura, but you can’t deny its efficiency.
Dave: He’s also very talented, seemingly being an expert in a variety of styles. I wonder who it is.
Winston Robinson: Well I… Oh, Señor Rodríguez is standing, and holding the cup in the air! I think that means it’s time for the final!
Dave: That is one nice throne. Anyhow, our Main Event people, where Los Guerreros de Miedo are taking on The Brothers Reed to become the very first Legión del HELL champions!
Legión del HELL Match Final:
Los Guerreros de Miedo vs. The Brothers Reed
Entrances made, and the two teams stood opposite each other in the ring. Cassius and Aries stared into the eyes of Las Manos, Miedo had locked eyes with Darius. In the ring, all was silent, as Señor Rodríguez himself stood up from his throne, and slowly approached the timekeepers table. With great ceremony, he took up the hammer, before ringing the bell personally, signalling the match to begin. Rather than the absolute bloodbath everyone expected, the two teams slowly parted, returning to their corners, with Cassius Reed and Mano Izquierda staying in the ring to start us off. The pair circled each other for a bit, with Izquierda swooping in occasionally, going for the attack, with Cassius dancing back to avoid each blow, and on the final assault, rolling back onto his shoulders, and into a headstand, sticking his tongue out to the joy of the crowd before dropping to his feet. Izquierda, not impressed by Cassius’ hi jinks, mocks him a bit, stepping up and making a motion like a clown.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, Cassius let loose a blistering machine gun punch combination, a devastating boxing combo rattling Izquierda, sending him staggering back to his corner, to the laughs of the combined Reed brothers. Shaking his head, Izquierda tagged in big brother Miedo, resulting in Cassius turning, audibly shouting “NOPE” and tagging in brother Aries, leading to Aries being slightly confused, looking put out at his brother before stepping in the ring. He looked behind him, still arguing with Cassius, before suddenly turning, going for a devastating punch combination of his own. Miedo, however, being, well, Miedo, met the assault with a Big Boot, knocking Aries down flat. Arrogantly picking him up, he quickly overpowered him into the corner, ignoring the punches Aries threw at his torso, before lifting him up and hitting a Snake Eyes to the ring post, before throwing Aries out of the ring.
Aries was barely out through the ropes, when Cassius’ lightning fast feet hit the mat, charging at Miedo, and catching him as he turned with a Running Straight Punch, barely moving the monster. Unperturbed, Cassius started unleashing lightning fast Hooks Muhammad Ali would have been proud of into Miedo’s midsection, an assault only stopped when Miedo clamped Cassius’ head in between his two massive hands, and rearing his own head back, collided with a massive Headbutt, sending Cassius to the floor like he’d been shot. Miedo went for the pin, just placing a single boot on Cassius’ chest, getting a 2 count, as Darius hit the ring, and knocking Miedo back with a Running Shoulder Block. Cassius quickly took the opportunity to escape, making Darius the legal man. Fans sat up in their seats, as these two massive warriors eyed each other a moment, before locking up in a colossal test of strength. It seemed Miedo had the edge, until Darius suddenly dropped to his knees, catching Miedo with a massive Jawbreaker.
Unseen to Darius, Derecha blind tagged in on the back of Miedo, and got in the ring as Darius hooked him up for the Suplex. As Darius managed to get Miedo in the air, Derecha hit a Low Dropkick, knocking out the Reed brother’s vertical base, as Miedo turned into a Cross Body as he dropped onto Darius. As Miedo slowly got up off of Darius, Derecha started hooking up a Reverse Indian Deathlock, using his brothers bulk to keep Darius down, until Benny Martinez got involved, instructing Miedo back to his corner. As Benny was distracted, Aries quickly hopped in the ring, running over, and slapping Derecha in the face with the Black Sack! Disgusted, Derecha disconnected himself from Darius, chasing Aries back to his corner, where Aries slid under the bottom rope, and Cassius leaned over, catching the unsuspecting Derecha with the Southpaw! Derecha hit the deck, lights out, as Cassius quickly concealed the brass knuckles! Izquierda hit the ring immediately, as Aries slid back in, and as Izquierda charged at Cassius, Aries intercepted him with a Corkscrew Dropkick, knocking him right out of the ring! Darius slowly sat up, spying the out cold Derecha. Unfortunately, Miedo also spotted Derecha, and Cassius, and Aries, and flew into a rage. Pushing Benny aside, Miedo charged forward, going straight for Darius. As he did so, Cassius and Aries both hit the ring, taking advantage of Benny’s incapacitated state. As Miedo started lifting Darius to his feet, Cassius slid behind him, and tapped him on the shoulder. As Miedo spun round with a massive Spinning Back Fist, Cassius hit a splits, before hitting Miedo with a Johnny Cage, right in the family jewels! As Miedo doubled up, Cassius rolled back, as Aries withdrew the infamous glove, and ran up, hitting a running, leaping Black Sack to Miedo, distracting him just long enough for Cassius to come back off the ropes, and connect with a massive running Southpaw! Both brothers quickly conceal their weapons, as Darius falls on top of Miedo, with Aries and Cassius both dog piling on top of their brother, as Benny groggily got to his feet, and slowly counted the 1, 2, 3!
Winners: The Brothers Reed by pinfall!
Winston Robinson: THE BROTHERS REED HAVE DONE IT! With some decidedly unethical tactics, the Brothers Reed are our inaugural Legión del HELL champions!
Dave: All done under the watchful eye of Diego, and considering that these three men are his sons, he doesn’t seem that bothered by how the Reed Brothers won!
Taking hold of the trophy, a broad smile on his face, Señor Rodríguez slowly stands, and starts climbing the steps, as the Brothers Reed start jumping, celebrating their massive victory! Cassius has somehow obtained a bag of bottles of LAZERADE! From some where, and after handing a bottle each to his brothers, starts throwing them to the excited crowd. As Señor Rodríguez enters the ring, he proudly summons the Reed Brothers together, holding the title aloft with Aries to a cheer from the crowd. The cheers suddenly turn to gasps, however, as Miedo has gotten to his feet, with Izquierda having helped Derecha to his feet. The fury of Miedo is apparent, as he starts to advance of the brothers, only for Señor Rodríguez to move in front of him.
Winston Robinson: Señor Rodríguez is insane! Miedo is insane! Someone needs to save El Comisionado!
Dave: You really have no idea.
As Miedo approaches his father, the Reed adopting a fighting stance behind the older man, Diego puts a hand out, signalling for them to stand down. Reluctantly they do, as Diego approaches his son. Without a mic, we can barely hear the words Diego says to his son.
Diego Francisco Rodríguez Cortez: Xiccahua!
Dave: Well? Translation?
Winston Robinson: It doesn't mean anything! I have no idea.
Miedo’s eyes widen in surprise, but he slowly backs up, staring at his father, and the Reed brothers, as he does. The rage still present in his eyes, he spits at the feet of his father, before leaving the ring, his brothers following him as he leaves.
Winston Robinson: Well, that was… a surprise? What the hell was that? Hopefully, we’ll find out soon enough. Until then, one more time, Aries, Cassius and Darius, the Brothers Reed, are our very first Legión del HELL champions! See you soon, Lucha fans.
Dave: Yeah, see ya.
The cameras once more go to the Brothers Reed, celebrating with Señor Rodríguez, as we fade to copyright.
