[Welcome Oblivion]
[Post Last Man Standing Match]
The wails of the sirens and the blaring of the air horn cut through the rather warm early fall night as the Capital City Ambulance races down the streets of San Diego as Paramedic sits in the grey leather side bench seat while I lay on the gurney properly strapped in.
A large smile is spread over my lips with my face is covered in the mixture of Savannah’s and I partially dried blood.
Michelle Collins made it clear that the two of us get sent to the hospital for observation no if, ands, or buts about it.
But still…I was nothing but all smiles.
I even managed to let a soft chuckle passed my lips as I shook my head slowly as the Paramedic arched a brow as he looked up from his black Toughbook laptop.
“I’m sorry sir... but is there something funny? I mean you are be seriously hurt. You just been through a war and a table and everything else for that matter, but a war nevertheless. ”
Justin looks up at the Medic as he just continues to laugh.
“I win.”, Justin said pointing to himself.
Confusion now covers the Paramedic as he sets his bulky laptop down on the bench next to him, in hopes of getting a better understanding of what I was trying to get at.
“Uh, Mr. Brooks…you won but you’ve got a pretty big laceration right above your eye that’s going to need a number of stitches, a number one contusions, and possibly a few fractures here and there once we get you through X-Ray.”, he corrected the newly crowned International Champion.
I just shake my head gently, still with a chuckle on my lips.
“No…there is no bad news. I win…Savannah may have walk away…but in the end, I win. Don’t you see, don’t you get it? She’s not a Monster, she’s not an animal...she’s just another pretender in a sea of nameless faces.”
I just start to laugh again, feeling the pain course through my ribcage just from the vibration of my laughter, bruised ribs if I was lucky. Clutched in my right hand was the one thing that I broken my body for...the one thing that I sent Savannah Taylor through a table for...the one thing that I wanted more than anything.
The Exodus Pro International Championship Title.
I held it up in the air, it’s gold faceplace smeared with bloody fingerprints as I smiled to face placing the title across my broad chest feeling the cool gold against my sweaty and warm skin.
“I don’t expect you to understand but this was worth it...and if given the chance I’d do it again, every single time. Savannah Taylor had to realize to defeat a monster…she had to become exactly what she despises, be exactly what she hates…Savannah Taylor had to become a monster herself and in the end, she couldn’t do it and it cost her everything.”
With that, I relaxed and laid my head back on the gurney with a smile plastered all over my face before sliding my hands back underneath my head.
“Everyone wants to be a Monster...until it’s time to do what REAL Monsters Do.”

"Those days back in Knoxville is where I first saw you."
"And honestly I didn't know what to think of you."
“You were undersized.”
“You were mediocre in the ring to say the best…”
“...you had a lot to learn.”
"It's been nearly three years since then and it's safe to say that I still don't know what to think of you. "
"When Jonathan left Knoxville to make Exodus and number of people left with him...you included. And low and behold that Collins turned that scrawny kid into a multiple World Champion amongst other things."
"A Honor Cup Winner."
"And the architect of one of the most brilliantly designed factions that this business has ever seen."
“More importantly, you became a Monster that held all of Exodus in palm of your hand, a ultimate puppeteer making everyone tangled within your little web dance to your beat.”
"Hell, they had to bury you just to put you down."
"Distasteful and gruesome to some...but when you think about it, it's only fitting for a man formerly known as Magnus Gunner. But you came back from the proverbial dead...only proving the point that no one can kill Furor, you can only hope to slow him down."
"Unless you're Jonathan Collins that is."
"Then you just don't kill him, hell you don't even slow him down..."
"...oh no, you want to control Christum Furor? You neuter him, you subdue him, and make him into a shell of your former self. "
"And honestly, seeing you like that make me wish you would've stayed buried all those months ago. "
"At least you would be remembered as the Devil."
"At least you would be remembered as the Furor."
"At least you would be remembered as a Monster."
"Instead...instead, you've shown to be nothing more but a project and if I may..."
"...nothing more but a pet. "
"I hope that Collins is giving you a proper treat for being a good boy."
"Who's a good boy?"
"That's right, it's you...you're a good boy!"
"Now sit....now, play dead."
"Good boy."

[San Diego, California]
I walked through a set of double blue doors as it opened with a slight creak. I slowly stepped inside, trying to enter without detection, as I looked up at the wrestling ring set in the middle of the empty warehouse with several wooden benches set one each side. I smiled to myself as I shifted the black Nike duffel bag on my right shoulder, which held the Exodus Pro International title as well as my extra wrestling gear. Vivienne, my former student and now head trainer of the California branch , had contacted me as I was cleared from the hospital, to see if I could make an appearance and as the newly crowned champ, I couldn’t see why I couldn’t. The door slammed behind me with a loud creak as I cringed knowing that the jig was up.
“And look who we have here…the Exodus Pro International Champion himself, the Big Bad Brooks...and the guy who signs my paycheck, Justin Brooks.”
I open a single eye to see Vivi in the middle of the ring, wearing a grey MONSTERS Inc. t-shirt and a pair of black shorts with wrestling shoes. Around her are a group of ten guys and several women, all looking as if they are ready for a photo shoot for Gold’s Gym. Sleeveless shirts and tights galore. I just smiled and wave my hand casually as I try to make a quick exit to the rear of the warehouse.
“Brooks! Where are you going? Come over here and meet some of these guys, they watched you take on Savannah Taylor and most of them are trying to follow in your footsteps.”
“Oh com’n, Viv…”, I said shaking my head as I turned away slightly. For a moment, I realized that being black meant I couldn’t blush. Thank God for dark skin pigment.
I trudged over to the ring, still feeling the effects of sending Savannah through a table, as I climbed up the steps and stepped between the top and middle rope as a drop my duffel bag on the apron of the ring. I smiled as I walked towards the middle of the ring, shaking hands as they offered various compliments and congratulations on my title victory. It was sure dreamlike to realize that I was one of the men to beat in Exodus and just stare into the eyes of these guys and girls in the middle of ring, I couldn’t help but noticed and realize that one…maybe two…or hell…all thirteen of the guys could be possibly staring me down on the opposite side of the ring for the title that I’ve slaved just get a shot for.
Vivi stood beside me with a smile on her face.
“Now you see guys…Justin is the example we all strive for. I've been under his tutelage for a little less than a year and in that time I've taken to the business like a duck to water and he hasn’t looked back since. He’s the self-made product that the Lion's Den and has literally cultivated his own rise to stardom and he's turned it into names like Aries Reed and myself for starters. And just think, within a few days…the guy is going to be stepping back into the ring to face off against a former Exodus Pro World Champion. It would be in your best interest to go to that show and watch some serious talent and dedication put to work. No one has put in the time and the effort like Justin over here. From his debut match back in New York…to Knoxville...to Exodus Pro to the International Championship. Justin is going to be a World Champion…if it all doesn’t go to his head.”
She looked over at me with a smile as I just chuckled and shrugged my shoulders. “Nah, Vivi…I don’t think that’s possibly with guys like you and Aries at my side.”
Vivi just laughed as she gave me a playful push that didn’t do much to even budge me from my stance in the ring. “Well, Justin…you got any advice for these guys today? I know you’re busy and everything so we won’t keep you long.”
Once again I looked over at the group standing in the middle of the ring and I just shrugged my shoulders. “I hope you’re not looking for some mysterious and mystic quote or rant from me. To be honest, you have to want it. You have to want it so much that it hurts. Yeah, I beat Savannah but to be honest…she didn’t realize how much I wanted it because I was hungry than she was. I’m nowhere near the ring technician, or the submission artist. I’m just a wrestler that was in the right place and the right time and I just wanted it a lot more than the other guy. I’m sorry that I can’t give you anymore but I know that it works for me.”
I looked over at Vivi and shrugged my shoulders. “Sorry, Vivi…no really sure what I was supposed to say to these guys but the truth.”
Vivi just nodded her head. “Justin, that’s all I ever asked from you. Give it to ‘em straight...just like you did with me.”
Nodding my head I started to make my way out of the ring, leaning over to grab my duffel bag. “Mr. Brooks…are you still hungry even though you’ve beaten Savannah and now that you’re the Exodus Pro International Champion for a second time?” asked one of the prospects.
I stop in mid-motion for a moment as I look up at the group of the wanna-be wrestlers. I reached over and unzipped my duffel bag and pulled of the International Championship before standing and hold the title against my chest. “I’ll never stop being hungry because I’m nowhere to a point where I’m ready to quit. And even still…think of it this way…the day I’m no longer hungry for this business…”
“…will be the day I take my last breath.”

“But honestly, what the hell does it matter because pretty soon, you’re going to have a real good idea of who I am.”
“And when it’s all said and done, you’re never going to forget it.”
“I won’t let you because just like Savannah Taylor, I want it to haunt you.”

“Whenever you doing Collin’s bidding.”
“Whenever you step into the RIMAC.”
